I have a fealing that the enchantment perktree might be mighty powerful.
1) increase strenght of enchantments by 100%
2) addition +25% for certain enchantments
3) get ultimo for a second enchantment on already enchanted items
could mean:
basic enchantment without any perks: +10 HP
same enchantment with all relevant perks +45 HP ...
True, but I do not think you can apply the same effect twice. At least, it has never allowed that. Also, 125% better than what you could do without perks does not mean 125% than what you could find/buy.
Smithing would worthless if those types of armor are obtainable through stores, quests... Thinking of skipping the whole tree as I usually deck myself out in stuff I've quested for, unique armor.
I presume Smithing perks allow 1) higher armour rating via improvement 2) great customisation 3) unique (Dragon Armour) or hard to obtain armour made accessible.

Ugly may mean you just do not like? Cause 100% more damage from weapons + higher additional effects sure seems good to me!
the thing is.. I think you have to be super powerful in other magick skills in order to make powerful enchantments. Like, if you wanted a powerful fire damage enchantment you better be darn good at destruction magick. Right?
Not anymore. Soul gems dictate the power of an enchantment.
I read it was the item you disenchant, like if you find a robe with "enhances magicka by 75%" and you disenchant it, you now have that enchant
You unlock that Enchanting ability. The soul gem provides the power.
I think.
I heard something similar, that you gain access to an effect by disenchanting. I guess the base power/duration/type of the new enchantment will be determined by the power of the soulgem/how long you want it to last, like in Oblivion. I do not see why magic skill in other fields comes in though. This is something I really want to find out about though! Same with Smithing xD
As for the OP, I think the only bad trees are lock-picking, speech and pick-pocketing, simply because I do not value those skills of their perks. I would sooner use Alteration and Illusion because they have a wider application.
