Anchorman is easily near the top of the list for most quotable movies. Some lines are deservedly memorable ( Steve Carell was hilarious as Brick) and yes there is some of the Will Ferrel style humor that some people do not like. However, the supporting cast of comedic actors each bring their own piece of humor to the movie and there are plenty of great scenes. I understand that people dislike the movie as an opinion but in no way is it a "bad" movie, it just may not match up to your tastes.

Now if you'll excuse me, I am late for my trip on diversity.

But the humor is not found until later viewings.

Hehe. I didn't find The Big Lebowski funny until I saw it three times. :mohawk:

You must be a time traveler, because if I recall diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era...

Okay, so you may have noticed that I very poorly paraphrased the classic quote from the universally acclaimed movie, Anchorman. You may be asking "But Gnome, why are you making a thread about Anchorman? Didn't that movie come out in, like, 2004?" Well Jimmy (let's assume), you're right about that. Anchorman is old news. But I have some very exciting news that is hot off the presses. What is it?

ANCHORMAN 2 HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED

Break out the champagne. Over the past few years, there have been little bits of information on whether or not it will happen, with some reports saying that Anchorman was dead in the water. It is a true Duke Nukem story. On the last Conan O' Brian show, Ron Burgandy (ignoring the 40 year time gap) came on to the show and played some of that sweet jazz flute. After belittling Conan and praising Andy, he dropped the bombshell that Anchorman 2 is happening. Well, I just thought I'd drop the news for you guys, and give you a handy link of the historic moment when this movie was announced. My body is ready.

I knew where this was going by the title and yeah I am hoping they atleast get the original cast including Applegate. Just watched the first one this morning on Graboid.

I liked the first one. And chances are I'll be watching the second one.

Why is is there so much hate for this film when people havent even watched the first one? I get it, Ferrell isnt for everyone, but enough with the hate. Why bother posting in a thread about a movie you've never seen and a sequel you'll never watch?

Man, I can't wait! The first one was so awesome. Don't know how they'll top the Afternoon Delight harmony, though.

The first one was simply a gold mine of quotes. "Brick killed a guy!" "Milk was a terrible decision!" "I'm not even mad, I'm impressed."

This doesn't deserve a sequel.

If it has the original cast and Ferrel doesn't go overboard, I like its potential.

I'm kind of sick of Will, though. So as a lover of the original Anchorman, here's to hoping I can acquire a taste for him again before the movie is released. I've become a pretty big Rudd fan, so maybe that will make up for things some.

Awesome! The plot is not really the point to these movies. Its not horrible but it is generic and unoriginal. Great situations and very quotable though, it's all about the journey and not the destination with this movie.

I really enjoy Anchorman but I'm not going to pay this much attention nor am I going to get my hopes it. Hope leads only to disappointment. Stay classy BSFGD.
