Why does EVERYTHING looks so terrible?

The only "bad" textures I've noticed have been around shadows. Water looks AMAZING though. :tes:

I dont know what to think. The snow textures on walls are some pixalated same for trees etc, also the glaring effect from light is sometimes overwhelming, and yes i have adjusted brightness, the actual gaming light contrasting its not nice. That aside im loving the game.

I have one of those older xbox's (can't say what kind specifically).

I've tried playing with Skyrim on HDD and off the disc.

On the HDD the textures don't load properly (particularly with hands and occasionally weapons).

Playing off the disk makes the textures load when I start the game, but eventually the textures disappear. While this MIGHT be better visually, it sounds like a revved up engine and I experience drops in FPS when I"m opening menus and such.

Hope they fix this soon.

EDIT: I have confirmed that opening the "B Menu" sends the textures to hell. Perhaps this is what is causing the issue. :sadvaultboy:

I have the latest model of 360, 32 inch HDTV with HDMI cables...and the textures are some of the worst I've ever seen. I can handle the environment looking like a ps1 game...but not my character, which unfortunately looks horrible half the time. I didn't have huge expectations but holy hell it looks bad.

I've played off the disc and from the HDD and my textures look HORRIBLE.

Maybe it's based on which model XB360 you have?

I have a newer Kinect ready model with a 250GB HDD.

I have the same model of xbox as you and had the same problems. However I found that if I deleted the installed game, switched off my xbox and then switched it back on, cleared the xbox hard drive cache and then started the game from disk it works fine and has been perfect ever since so long as I clear the cache before I start the game!

I have installed the game to USB flash (but save to HDD) and the graphics are better than from disc or HDD. But, there are still some low-res loooking textures... particulary in the mountains - snow (but much better than off disc or HDD) and rocks with snow. Some of the areas in othert parts of the game are less than brilliant - blockie rocks, etc. Disappointing considering the pre-luanch graphics hype. However, the game itself is wonderfull!! Hooked.... and but hoping for graphics patch.

I have a 360 elite and Skyrim is on my hard drive. The textures look loaded, just poor. Will uninstalling fix this or is this just Bethesda being Bethesda? Please reply.

I'm hoping that at least some people realize that graphics are going to vary from system to system. Unfortunately, consoles are a handful of years behind PC's, where new graphics cards are released every other year or so. Some of the issues may be able to be fixed with patching, but there is of course the problem of tearing or slow loading. This is probably most apparent in the older Xbox 360 models (which I have) and so I can't necessarily blame Bethesda. So far, I have no issues whatsoever with the look of this game, though. After watching comparison videos (PC vs. Xbox 360 vs. PS3), I can tell a lot of work went into detailing Skyrim--it's just a matter of which system you're playing on, and how up-to-date it is.

There was a tread over the weekend about this, imo it should have been made a sticky. If you install the game on a flash drive, you will not get the texture issue, plus get the benefit of no spinning disk, no noise, faster loads, and much less heat output. The flash drive needs to be 8gb or 16gb. Btw i have an old elite and am using an hdmi cord.

I'll have to try that. So just install the game on a (min.) 8 GB flash and that's it?
(I have a standard definition TV)
