I have the older 60gig model and the graphics still look terrible even after uninstalling and running from the disc. Textures are bad, really bad worse than Oblivion which looked gorgeous by comparison. I didn't think it would be possible for Bethesda to mess it up this bad. Please fix it soon guys its ruining the game for me!

Yea...NO!

This problem is being reported by so many people all over the interwebz. It is a legitimate problem and how it got past Bethesda's QA people is beyond me.

Hopefully they'll find a fix for the issue so you can change your mind. This game is quite a bit better visually than Oblivion is.

I've only noticed that a few textures look bad.. some look amazing, some look flat and weird. It's mostly a lighter wood texture used for tables and cabinets.

We ARE Bethesda's QA people, that is how they treat their most loyal customers who buy the game on release. DISGRACE.

The immersion is tainted big time. I just joined the Dark Brotherhood and went to look at my new armor on my character, and I can't see any detail. It looks like Morrowind almost. The wow effect of new things are non-existent.

Now with the game freezing in the menu a lot and not being able to get rid of completed quest items... I feel this current play through is a waste. I knew and expected bugs but these happen to be too big to just "get over and deal with."

Really disappointed and I will never buy another Bethesda game on it's release ever again. From now on I'll wait a year or so. I have the willpower to do that thank god.

Please vote in my thread then, lets send a message to Bethesda that we will NOT tolerate being treated like their unpaid QA testers.

Sounds to be one of the early signs of the RROD.
GPU most likely is just barely holding on giving you what last bit of connection it has.

Just received a refund for skyrim due to the texture problems.
I loved what time I had spent with it so I will re-buy when it's cheaper in the new year.

Thankfully I read about the texture issues and did not install and i have not had any texture issues. I'm running on a slim 250GB and the disc loa times are not that bad at all and the disc barely makes any noise in the slim. I'll install when they fix it.

I'm running a 120 GB Xbox Elite (the first black version, not the one that looks like a Ninja Assassin), and I don't think I am having these texture issues that people are having. Sure, occasionally some rocks look cel-shaded, but that's about my worst problem.

I have the 250gb Xbox 360 Slim, installed the game to the hard drive immediately after receiving it and the game looked god awful. I honestly lost interest in playing the game because of how dated it looked and went back to playing BF3.

This is a pretty big oversight on Bethesda's part. If playing from the disc doesn't significantly improve the textures of the game or if the hard drive fix doesn't come in a reasonable amount of time, I'm just going to sell the game.

I'm really sorry for those experiencing probems visually. I'm playing on Xbox 360, my Tv is an LG 1080p 240 hz LCD 47''. I have never seen such a visually stunning game. I don't even need to go north, the Aurora Borealis on Skyrim is spectacular and all-too-believable. The graphichs on Oblivion were like child's play compared to this. Try adjusting picture on your TV if possible. idk

My main complaints are slight lighting issue from time to time, menu freezing quite regularly and the quests can be difficult to differentiate. Markers should be colored differently if you have more than one active quest. Sometimes i equip something in my left hand and it never brings it up, just a fist (this is usually in mid-combat).

Hope you will read these complaints/issues Bethesda and patch it up quick.

I installed to a flashdrive and have yet to see what everyone is complaining about. My textures are great, both up close and distance. I'm using a three year old Xbox though. Maybe the newer ones are having this problem more?

For what it is worth:

Installing and running from HD textures are slightly better than Morrowind - with a far larger draw distance.

Running from the disc they are as found on the videos from Beth showing the 30 min demo. Possibly one of the best looking games on the xbox and certainly best looking open world game.

The issues are purely caused by a combination of hardware and software.

As this is not found by all xbox users it should be possible to patch. But yes, it is irritating that it was not found during beta testing. One wonders if it is caused by day one patch? Has anyone with problems tried running it WITHOUT the first patch?

Edit: This is running on 6 month old:

Xbox slim
250 gig
110 gig free
Game saves to 2 gig usb drive

Okay people need to start reading posts about this from the people playing the game instead of the Bethesda sticky or the plethora of news sites who are covering this issue improperly. Playing from the disk doesn't fix anything for most users. Neither does installing to a flash drive. I've tried every combination of possible ways of playing this game so have MANY others and the issue persists. Please people stop making this out to be, "Just a little hard drive bug". It's not. Also this attitude isn't helping anyone, Bethesda needs to see how bad this really is instead of thinking that it's just an installation issue. It's bad enough every single news site already reported this and made it seem like playing from the disk solves everything. Start discussing this properly. Installing to a flash drive has helped SOME users, but most of us have seen little difference. There's even a poll on the this forum and it shows that in total over 75% of users are having this problem. It even goes into further depth and asks how the game is being played; HDD, Flash Drive, or disk, etc.

Please, stop making this seem like a "minor issue, easily solved by reading from the disk."

I have played it installed on an arcade unit that is 3 years old since launch and haven't seen any kind of texture problems. I'm even playing on a SDTV , and so far the game looks just as good as it did in E3 footage. IMHO the best looking game to be on the 360 thus far.

For whatever reason, as far as I can tell. People seem to be having the best results with older xbox models.

LOL I have an launch xbox 360 elite fatty and the graphics look worse than Oblivion does on it, so that's not the case. I think it's an issue of the read and write software of the game data itself which is why it's looks great for some and terrible for others no matter how old or new or what kind of 360 they own. In the end Bethesda cut to many corners and a lot of us are going to suffer from it if not all eventually.

I installed it and it looked like crap for maybe an hour but then it started looking a LOT better. Just tough it out in the beginning and it'll pay off eventually. Looks nice.

I'm having the same problem. It seems to be the 'b' menu that causes it, though. Whenever I load the game, everything is fine, looks gorgeous, and I have no complaints, but when I press 'b' to go to my menu, it blurs everything when I exit the menu. I'm also playing on a slim, on a 1080p 42" LED HDTV, with an HDMI cable. It seems to be the menu that causes the problem.

This, the furniture looks bad, like really bad. Worse than FO3 bad. Also water at a distance looks bad and the "sand" texture for this hilly areas looks like mount and blade graphics
