Yeah I have noticed that my save file is growing now but it's by very small numbers so it'll take awhile to get to 10mb save file now.
There are different types of data, some are more dynamic and difficult to keep track of (such as bodies). The patch most fixed the refreshing of dungeons which was causing the problem (notice that dungeons do reset now where they didn't before and no mention of this fix is in the notes, so this was the problem). That information was what was hurting ps3 performance and now it is gone. So the save file creeping back up should hurt like it did before. That being said, your save file may be corrupted now due to your actions before the problem was repaired. No telling what sort of glitch that means you brought back with you after the patch due to corrupted save data.
So pretty muvh the patch just gives you longer to play if you restart before the the death star of lag comes and blasts your ps3 like IMAFIRINMAHLAZOR!
Not necessarily. From what I understand, 360 and pc save files also increase into the multiple mbs. This is likely why Bethesda initially said that the file size wasn't the problem, because only part of it was, the rest was supposed to be increasing to track character progress.
Pete Hines declared that we would not have to restart our game for the patch to work. With this being said, the patch is not working as intended (unless by "improvement" he meant "just don't play it for more then an hour... like you guys were doing before").
It said that it improved the performance problem, not that it fixed it. I don't think that was accidental wording.
