that's true lol. i meant that it'd pose a problem for the players with the older consoles, as they can no longer replace their controllers should they mysteriously dissapear, run away or end up in the microwave

DLC exists because there is a market for it, no more. If people are willing pay for it, then why stop developers providing it?

Then that would mean a killing for the makers of 3rd party controllers.
oh, i forgot about 3rd party peeps.
if M$ pays up, no big difference.
if they adjust the console and controller, sales might increase a bit.

Motorola can get over it.
This is more of a tit-for-tat thing. Microsoft blocked some Motorola phones in the US first.

In fact, seeing the gaming industry in general go under would finally give me something to smile about.

This isn't something that Motorola can simply ignore. US patent/copyright laws REQUIRE copyright holders to continuosly persuit any and all copyright violations that they know about, or they risk losing the copyright or patent itself!

For instance, if ZeniMax doesn't go after people who basically try and steal the Elder Scrolls Series, ZeniMax, and gamesas by extension, may not be able to hold any copyrights to the title, series, names, etc. What was once the cash cow turns into a trickle almost overnight, and the corporate lawyars are scrambling to try and figure out how to solve it, or end up having to create a brand-new series.

Achievements are pointless and the developers could have instead used the time to improve gameplay. Sometimes they create DLC in 5 minutes (like clothes DLC or horse armor) and sell it for $15.
1. No DLC is designed, built, tested, marketed, and packaged for deployment in 5 minutes. Maybe 5 days, but that's still pushing it.

2. What makes you think that achievements are taking time away from gameplay development? Were you hiding in the duct work in a conference room at Bioware during a project planning meeting?

And that means that we have to like it? Why shouldn't we get mad over something that many people dislike? DLCs have ushered the age of the expansion(for the most part) out the damn window, and no offense, but there has NEVER, in the history of DLC, been a DLC that is anywhere near as good as an Expansion pack. Just because they are just "Figuring out ways to make money, which is their purpose" doesn't mean we should remain silent about it, or be forced to like it. By your logic(and yes, this is a stretch), Jews should have just accepted Hitlers extermination of them because it was just what his Nazi political machine did! Edit:(Again, just pointing out that I fully realize the above is quite a stretch when it comes to comparisons, I'm sure anyone reading it is going "oh, come on, you can't possibly equate a real world travesty like that to something as minor as Video game developers making DLC", and I'm not, really. I'm just pointing out how absolutely ludicrous it is to say that "I don't understand why people get mad at corporations for figuring out ways to make money". If you can't understand why people don't like something that is not healthy for their hobby, and is causing a decline, and why they would get mad about that, you really need to sit down and think for a few hours, I'm sure you'll figure it out.)
Wait, what!?!? Offering completely optional DLC for sale is like Nazis forcibly wiping out Jews? You lost me.

Companies offer products. If people want them they have the option to buy them. If people buy them enough then a market is created. Unless there's some kind of bait-and-switch going on to trick you into needing the DLC in order for the base product to work then there's nothing different about this and how a gazillion other products are packaged and sold. If you don't want the DLC then don't buy it.

And yes, I also am annoyed when content is released for a game I own and I don't want to pay extra for it. I'm also annoyed when I buy a piece of electronics just before a new version is released. I'm also annoyed when I get a plate of mac n' cheese from the buffet right before they put out a fresh tray that looks much tastier.

I'm not saying that anyone has to like it. Feel free to dislike and speak out against it all you want. What I don't understand is when people seem to take it personally...as though the corporation is deliberately screwing them over or ruining something simply out of spite. Corporations are animals that are hungry for money...they find ways to make profits like tigers hunt for prey. If a tiger eats your dog it didn't do it to be a jerk. That's just what tigers do. If you don't want your dog eaten then don't let it play with the tigers. Warn others about the tigers. Dislike the tigers' desire to eat things. Whatever. It makes no sense to be personally offended by the tiger. If you want to be mad...be mad at the people that let their dogs play with the tigers before you. That's how the tigers developed a taste for dog in the first place.

Ok...anology = too far. :P

Ah, so it's more like an arbitration tribunal?
Sorta. It's really just a hearing being conducted by the lackey of an agency. I believe this falls under the ITC's authority to conduct "Intellectual Property based Import investigations."
