Blizzard bans users from Diablo III just for using Linux.

I don't care for Blizzard or Diablo players or Linux. Though whats Blizzard and Activision merging got to do with it?
Whenever there's a big corporate merger in the world of video games, the added bureaucracy always makes a great target for blame in the associated fan bases.

Effectively nothing, just people pointing fingers in the dark? Seems fool proof.

Then I shall henceforth resort to blaming http://www.myfacewhen.net/uploads/3578-all-the-things.jpg

So it's more complicated than we thought.

Well, it would really help if Blizzard would tell us how those Linux users were cheating, though. I mean, are we supposed to believe that their system isn't faulty just because they told us so? On numerous past occasions (not necessarily involving blizzard) corporations have made "extremely confident" statements like this only to be proven completely wrong by the end. So you have to wonder what kind of information they're basing this statement off of.

The relevance of this statement escapes me.

They're probably not going to come out and say how they were cheating until they make it so you can't cheat that way anymore.

The thing with Blizzard's forums are the only thing that stands out is the whining and someone who doesn't frequent them happens to roll by and see 50 whiner threads and thinks there's some major issue.

I've never had a problem with Blizzard, honestly I think the people who do ARE in the wrong 95% of the time and then run around whining to Blizzard blaming them for something that's their own fault.

All the people who got hacked when DIII came out were blaming Blizzard. But I still don't believe they were hacked at random. No one that I know was ever hacked. Then you have people whining about the game doesn't work when it's their computer (I did this too, until I realized I could fix the problem on my end).

These people probably cheated and then decided to go complain when they got caught. In the end we're better off without them as Blizzard customers.

It's not like Blizzard's anti-cheat system has http://news.softpedia.com/news/Blizzard-Unbans-Linux-World-of-Warcraft-Players-40907.shtml before.

I was really looking forward to Diablo 3... But then realized the franchise was in its prime in 2001

Cedega was a port of WINE at the time too.

If Linux isn't supported by them, then they have every right to not let you use it.

There is a difference between a game not supporting an OS, so therefore you can't play the game on it due to compatibility issues, and outright banning people because of a false positive due to the Warden system.

I find all of the workings behind Diablo III to just be creepy (almost as creepy as Arrowoflight's avatar).

I was talking to him specifically, as I know that he really doesn't.

Diablo 3, what a joke.

Still like that picture up on College Humor with the toilet that has an error sign from Diablo III on it.

All this does is make me laugh at Blizzard more and more. They have got to be the single most....paranoid company out there. Only place that is worse than them is EA for the garbage they put out and their heinous crimes of acquiring companies then trashing them.
