The Walking Dead Discussion

Ahe is honestly on par with Hayden Christensen as Aniken in terms of worst and most wooden actors out there.
I disagree. Hayden is 500% worse.
I want them to explore the complexities of human nature once civilised living breaks down.
I believe that's what Rick is for. He starts out as a moralistic guy having a hard time letting go of...politeness & good manners...and he's slowly morphing into something ... that's not what he was before. Dale and Shane are to show the extremes as a counterpoint to what Rick was/is becoming. Will he end up like Shane in the end, or will he hold on to his humanity...or something inbetween. That sort of thing.

But yeah....the 1st half the 2nd season largely svcked - that whole Sophie plotline was a snoozefest. It gets better during the 2nd half.

Rick is definitely one of the most interesting characters right now. From what we saw in that last episode, he may continue to go the way of the comics, which will be especially interesting seeing as Dale isn't around in the TV show any more.

Also, Andrea. She has real potential to me. She's shown that she's not just some damsel in distress, is able to view this post apocalyptic world in a more realistic light than (pre-finale) Rick, but with a humanity that Shane lacked, and now there's the prospect that she'll feel abandoned by the group - plus she's going to be travelling with a legitimate badass for at least a while (if she lives). I really, really hope they keep her on in the next series.

It's such a grand idea, but nothing happens. I'm nearly at the end of season two and nothing has happened. I want them to explore the complexities of human nature once civilised living breaks down. They spent about 5 episodes looking for a missing child.
IMO they explore human nature way too much and that's what made this season mostly svck. It works when there's action, not when it's talky.

I found the first season to be the perfect mix of action and character development. Then it all went to hell once they reached the farm.

Yeah, the farm is awful. I thought they'd be there for a few episodes and then move on, they've been there all season! I think the main problem is they dwell too much. It takes 4-5 episodes for anything to properly happen.

I've also noticed that the show is paced ridiculously. 35 minutes of talking and washing clothes and then BAM! Action sequence to finish, which just gathers your interest enough to watch again. I have two episodes left of season 2, hopefully it improves.

And I really do have a potentially worrying dislike for Carl and Andrea. I just can't stand them, I want them to be eaten.....slowly.

 I like it. And I mostly agree with it. The funny thing is that even with the show being not that great this whole time, it still had huge ratings for an original cable show. All of us watching and hoping. Just imagine how it'd be if/when they get their act together and it becomes a more consistently good show.

Hershel's going to make a way better Dale anyway.
This cracked me up. Hershel's not as goody as Dale was of course. But I love Hershel's TV chr. (and the actor) so agree with the sentiment at least.

you never trust the guy who suddenly and dramatically shaves his head in the bathroom.
Also cracked me up. One of those tv tropes type things, definitely.

I thought I was the only one who noticed Hershal only reloaded once after firing 100 rounds out of that shotty. Extended clip perhaps?

They talk to much about their actions, and don't do much in the way of action.

I'm enjoying the show but some of the characters just switch values sometimes

Spoiler
- Lori telling Rick to get rid of Shane - Rick then kills Shane and Lori [censored]es at him - Really WTF?

Also Carl is a little punk.

They don't develope T-dogs character in anyway, and Carol is hardly of any use.

I don't mind them going over the whole talkie-talkie emotional part of the show, just don't drag it on.

LOL The last line is especially great.

You have to feel for the writers. The ratings were through the roof, it just reinforced bad behavior. *hangs head in shame*

"Have you seen Carl?"
"Go get/find Carl, I'd appreciate it."
"Carl's not in his room!"
