So, you are basicly saying "Hey everyone, I am leaving now. You must pay attention to me because of it"?
Fine, leave. No one actually care about that part of the topic. You have legitimate reasons for being disappointed in Skyrim, but why do you have to bring the "I am leaving" part into it? Seems rather childish in my opinion.
Your reading comprehension is lacking, to put it politely. My post wasn't about my 'leaving'. I was expressing my opinion - which I
have a right to do, by the way, whether you like it or not. And I don't have to justify the manner in which I address anything to you, nor anyone else. If you dislike what I had to say, you have a 'back' button on your browser.
It is impossible to convey one's sentiments without, at least to some degree or another, expressing their personal experiences with whatever they are discussing. What was I supposed to do, come here and say 'I hate Skyrim! Its stupid!' without so much as a why? Without my reasons for feeling the way I feel? And yes, lots of people do in fact create exactly that sort of post on forums like these. I'd rather work toward making a valid point and expressing my exact reasons for making said point, than make yet another 'LOL BETHESDA U SUX WTF IS THIS' sort of post.
The point of my post is the disappointment I feel regarding Skyrim and in general, Bethesda's treatment of many of its customers. I punctuated that sentiment by stating that I would not support Bethesda further. That isn't a bluff, or a knee-jerk reaction - it is genuinely the way I feel. If some of you choose to define this as 'leaving' then so be it. This post isn't about me. I didn't come here looking for the approval or attention of any of you and, without meaning to sound rude, I could not care less about either. I came here to send a message to one entity: Bethesda. If this post was read one by so much as one of them and ignored by every other user on these boards, my 'mission' would have been accomplished. So, perhaps try and not assume what a person's intentions are if you do not understand their intentions.
I'm not here to rag on Skyrim. Its a fine game, when it works, that hits most of the bullet points that their games tend to hit. But there is simply no justification for the game that PS3 users got, for the lack of communication regarding "PC users, run 64-bit OS or else", for the fact that PC users got a console port shoveled into their laps, and now for the 'we never said anything about anyone else getting Dawnguard.' Dawnguard itself means nothing to me - I've never played a vampiric character in an ES game. Its the principle of it that bothers me, that XB360 users are 'preferred' customers because of this exclusivity. And the fact that on the 30th day, instead of the DLC being made availible, people waiting for it get the above-referenced message.
Whether you like what I have to say or not, the reality is that more people need to speak their mind about the way things make them feel. If every PS3 user came to these forums and basically demanded an explanation as to why they got the quality of game that they got, that would open eyes.
Perhaps my first post wasn't clear - some of the very, very best gaming experiences I've ever had are a result of Bethesda. Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and in the moments I could actually enjoy it, I felt some of that magic with Skyrim. When the game crashed and crashed and crashed for me, I was distraught - not angry, distraught - because I wanted to experience the dragons, learn the shouts, all of that. There is genuine brilliance in the minds at Bethesda, and that brilliance results in games that are really unlike anything else in the industry save for their own sequels. The fact that they continue to make compelling single player games in an increasingly 'multiplayer or GTFO' industry is a large part of the respect I had for them.
But that brilliance does not excuse what has happened with Skyrim, the alarmingly growing trend of 'ship a trainwreck of a game, fix it with patches' that shouldn't be tolerated by any of us. It doesn't excuse the decision to jump into the cash boat with Microsoft and then have the audacity to /shrug their shoulders about when everyone else might get to see Dawnguard or any other DLC they make. My point is that this is not the kind of company that I'm going to support. Of course, I'm one person and ultimately its inconsequential. But if I can so much as make one person there think - even a little - about all that has happened since 11/11/11.... then the point of my post was achieved.
