1.8 Beta Update, Solstheim DLC hints - Thread #14

Post » Thu Oct 18, 2012 2:02 pm

Quote from yesterday, I think it was made by Prometheus several threads ago, but I wanted to add something

So about the missing Gamejam features yet to be added eventually to the game I highlighted in red the ones that seem will be implemented ...

Magical combos
Spears
Goblins (Rieklings?)
Verlet Surface
SSAO
Giant monsters
Movable platforms
Directional rivers
Seasonal foliage
Flails and morningstars
bendable foliage
thievery enhancements
dark dungeons
werebears
new followers commands
snow footprints
non rigid objects
Dragonmounts

so the red ones are introduced probably while the blue is a guess... what do you think?

High level draugrs could also be implemented in Solstheim, don't you think?

Also, am I the only one who hopes to find many new books in Apocrypha, and also TONS of new lore ?

(And if several of those tons could be written by MK, I'd be utterly delighted ! )

A dilemma that's plagued many of us...
How many souls can one body hold???

Looking inside me you'd think
Sure, he's got every soul
I've got Ancients and Elders, a-plenty
I got Revered and Frost Souls galore
You want Blood Dragon Souls? I've got twenty.
But who cares? No big deal. I want more....

I wanna live, as the Dov are
I wanna Fus, wanna Fus Ro Dah yeah
Blastin' my foes with my - What's that word again?
Oh, "Thu'um"

Kickin' your legs, you don't get too far
Viings are required for soarin', flyin'!
Flapping up in that - What's that word again?
Lok

Up where they Krif, up where they Thu'um!
Up where they stay all day in the Shul
Rovaan' free - Wish I could be
A Dovahkiin!

I am excited to see if this proves true or not. Having 'been done before' is no reason not to do it again. Its like saying they shouldn't do High Rock or the Summerset Isles because they were in Arena(or Daggerfall in the case of High Rock). I missed the Rieklings...In fact I'm wondering about how the Skaal have grown and whether or not Fort Frostmoth is still the place where Criminals are sent to.

Where is this Mardoxx and why no new posts of code line pics. Frankly none of you know anything and are just adding your hopes. Let's see some posts of code that's within 1.8!

...because they haven't updated the 1.8 code? Remember, it IS in beta code right now...

I wonder what Castle Karstaag will be like, since the Nerevarine killed Karstaag centuries prior. That was such an awesome building.

For the new players, it was a castle built by the frost giant, Karstaag (obviously).

I was planning it already, as a matter of fact.

I also can't wait to see what new Dwemer ruins they may add into the game. That whole "Balista Centurion" that was datamined along with new dwemer objects has my fingers crossed!

...and for all you zealous Morrowind fans, do NOT just tell me "there's only an airship". Lore is infinitely flexible and any monkey can come up with a viable explanation...

Here, let this monkey show you how easy it can be!

Lets say a new powerful dragon is revealed in "Dragonborn" to be the new big-bad. It fought many other Dragons upon its release from some deep vault beneath the island, and it's Thu'um during one of those battles causes a massive rockslide on a mountain face - revealing a previously unknown Dwemer location on the island.

Seriously... it's not THAT hard to add/evolve the existing lore!

Thank you for being considerate for us new players! ^_^

While I'm not selecting the link - I'm keeping it saved until they OFFICIALLY announce the expansion (and announce it for PS3). This way I don't get my hopes up too high - and let my imagination run away and be disappointed when it doesn't live up to my dreams.

Either way, I really would like some more Giant lore! (I assume this guy is related to the Giants in the game currently?)

Thinking back to Morrowind and Solstheim, the island possessed many elements that I had expected to show up in Skyrim that ultimately did not. Varied Silver weapons, Berserkers, Fyrse Hags, Snow bears/Wolves expanded underwater exploration, Nord Tribes and Werebears(wolves) to name a few. Will this DLC accommodate some of these and will they be featured only on the island or mainland as well? Will the Skall, Moonmoth fort and Grahl return?

There are also many potential quest and storylines that can be brought back into focus back from Bloodmoon and Morrowind. The uderfrykte, Frost Giants and Falmer are examples of have being previously featured or mentioned and having returned. All were originally featured in Bloodmoon. Will they be expanded on? Kaarstag, The Snow Prince? How will 200 years be represented in areas we have traveled to before?

I think Solstheim presents an interesting challenge because those of us that played Bloodmoon will have high expectations and fond memories of the rich storyline and quests. More so with the implied presense of the Telvanni and the Dark Elves representing the whole of Morrowind. There is so much ground to cover, so many questions to be answered and potentially essential content, do you think Beth will be up to it considering the issues abundant in the main game?

Karstaag is the same species as the Frost Giants in Dawnguard.

Ummm... aren't there silver swords and such in the game? The ones wielded by the silver hand?

And there are snow bears and snow wolves in the game. Their pelts are the priciest. :P

Morrowind had a good variety of Silver weapons, not just two swords that can't be upgraded. The Snow bears and Snow wolves in Bloodmoon were much larger and more powerful than their ordinary counterparts and could inflict frost damage. Their pelts had special properties and could be made into unique sets of enchanted armor. They are completely different and superior than the snow bears and ice wolves in Skyrim.

They're still the same lorewise. I think Beth wanted to tone down the craziness a little in order to create a more convincing, believable, world.

1. They are not the same. Snow bears in Skyrim are smaller and lack Frost Damage and the special properties of their pelts. Completely different animals, same name. Snow wolves do not even appear in Skyrim, ice wolves do.

2. TES will never be "convincing" or "believable". That "craziness" is definitive and in every aspect of the game and is not going away, no more than any "craziness" in D&D.
