Getting freezes in my fully built home

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:39 pm

I can isolate when the game is freezing for me. It happens when my daughter (Lucia) walks from the main hall into the entrance room of the house. As she goes through that doorway - bam - the game freezes. Every time.

Come on Beth developers, there's something to try to replicate, and then fix.

This is now also happening when my adopted son, Samuel, goes through this same doorway from the main hall to the entrance room. The game freezes and I have to reset the Xbox.

First: I′m german and my english ist not so good. So I say sorry for this :)

Now my problem. Ok the problem of everyone here. I had no problems with the Houseconfiguration (Lakeview manor: armory, greenhous and trophyroom)
When I entered the mainroom ( not important which door), it only took some time to load everything like Bard, Hucarl and the Mannequinns. But since I brought my wife to the manor it freezes sometimes, but that was only short period. But since I adopted the girl from Whiterun (Lucia) the House ist loading after I come in. But in the Moment I see a person or my daughter moves in my direction, the game freezes complete.

Any advices? Please. Or should I wait till Bethesda repairs everything (what normaly tooks 2-3 weeks)

Do not hold your breath waiting for Bethesda to repair something the players can likely avoid. When the game freezes wait at least 5 minutes and see if it recovers, rather than turn the console off. The best thing to do would be to rebuild the house, but you probably do not want to do that.

I dont know if im suppose to say anything. But Bethesda sent me an Email asking if they sent me a thumb drive. if i could send it back with a copy of my save file so they can investigate the issue. So that tells me that they are very into fixing the issue. just give it time.

You load a previous save game, preferably one right before you started building that first house. It seems likely it is going to take three goes for my first character to have three glitch free houses, although there is still another strange glitch that has been introduced into that characters save games, it seems from his second attempt at Hearthfire where he had Serana as a follower for a while. But it does not affect the houses and will not be fatal unless it mutates into something else. I just have to be very careful with Braggen getting strange bounties he should not be getting. For all I know that could be an old glitch from the main game Braggen has just triggered very late in his life. But it was all Serana's fault, she did it trying to wipe out Riften. :swear:

I have two Lakeview Manors (two characters) with no freezing at either. Skyrim is installed to the hard drive, all autosaving is off and it is the old original Xbox 360.

Braggen - bedrooms, storage, library (entryway and cellar) (housecarl, steward, bard, cow, horse, 3 chickens, coach and all outside fixtures)

Aussie - greenhouse, alchemy tower, kitchen (entryway and cellar) (housecarl, steward, daughter, bard, 2 chickens, coach, horse, cow and all outside fixtures)

Outside at the second house the game will stutter occasionally when she first gets there , almost like it is trying to load something, but that is the only thing unusual, that character will hardly get any attacks, so it is wasting its time thinking about it if that is what it is doing. The first house is missing half the stuff in the cellar, but careful building would have avoided that glitch. Both houses now have some custom home decorations and a lot of stuff in them.

No bees from that greenhouse have ever been allowed to wander around the house, they are snatched up as soon as they are seen, they only ever got as far as the door. They are usually collected shortly on entering the house. Braggen had a few bees wandering around his house in another location and they never caused any problems though, but again when they were seen they were caught.
I like how you refer to your characters in third-person.

Yea...mine is freezing now evertime. I restarted the xbox about 4 times...but it's still freezing. I do not have a greenhouse....i have the armory...trophy room and bedroom...i just adopted the kids and i think it has something to do with them being in the house.

Exact same problem with me. This continued freezing I'm starting to suspect is because of the children.

Braggen's last and final version of Lakeview Manor is armory, trophy room, enchanting tower, cellar, no entryway it is the small house without the bed and cooking spit. All the outside upgrades , no bard yet.
There is a LOT of extra stuff in the basemant and there is no freezing, although the mannequins have moved a few times as large amounts of stuff was dumped in the basemant. They always returned to the right place though when the area was reloaded by going through a door, it was just a hiccup while the house got used to the extra stuff lying all over the floor.

Mine started freezing when I adopted children. Whenever they walked through the doorway connecting the main hall to the entrance room, the xbox would lock up.

A solution (from another thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1412590-ive-read-that-removing-workbenches/): Remove the workbenches. Worked for me, not had a single freeze since.

I have just encountered the game freezing when I try and enter my Falkreath home.

It froze last time I played when I tried to enter the house. I turned the game off. I could do nothing other than turn the Xbox off.
I forgot about the problem until today as when I tried to continue it put me back to the autosave as I went through my home front door (the point it froze last time) and it again put me in a freeze.

I turned the Xbox off and then back on. I then went to the auto save before the one that made me freeze which worked fine. I then fast travelled to my Falkreath home and as i tried to go into tje house it did exactly the same thing (as it tried autosaving as I entered through door of home)

I am now scared to go into the houses.

I am having seriously glitches since I purchased and installed Hearthfire.

The worst so far being the constant saying I need items at my workbenches even though I've made them.

This really isn't good enough

Have you tried removing the workbenches, as suggested in this thread? It worked for me - no freezes in Lakeview Manor now.

Re the problem with workbenches giving duplicate items to make: Exit the workbench then go back into it, and it should be fine. May need to do this a couple of times.

I think this is more likely going to end up that we need a bit of practice before working out how to build a glitch free house. Yes concentrating on one area is best, as is doing that one area in one go once you have everything you need. You stop and start or go wandering off and starting another area, things are probably going to go wrong, especially with how the inhouse workbenches reset.

except of course that to finish a wing you need hard to find stuff like sabrecat tooths, horker tusks and - god forbid - slaughterfish scales

can a workbench be removed then added back ?

I just started getting ctds 8(

is it my imagination or are sabrecat nearly extinct ? they used to be easy to find near whiterun
now after many hours, I found only one

you can re-add work benches after removing them.

I had some CTD issues in windstad. removed the benches and the CTD stopped.

Keeps crashing on me to where I have to restart the game completely. Way to brick Bethesda, thanks.

Thanks !

Removing workbenches solved all problems. No more crash.

Now I just enable a single workbench when I need to add something (like a new shrine, or a sabrecat wall trophy)
And I disable the workbench immediately after that

As a side bonus, the manor looks much better without all those workbenches

I have removed all my workbenches. I am unable to make any use of my Falkreath home (Lakeview) as it locks up the Xbox on entry EVERY TIME.

All of my gold, gems and most of my usable kit is in Lakeview and I've no recent saves at all.

This is a very serious issue. I'm sure Bethesda are scurrying along to fix it, right?

So nothing then?

Consumers buy something that simply does not work, and which also impacts on their additional purchases, and it doesn't matter?

Awesome customer service.
