Wait, did this release already?

At the same time XBOX users should be angry too because the only reason you can't at least use PC-created mods on the XBOX is because Microsoft doesn't allow it. It's probably not possible to run the CK on the XBOX but at least most mods packaged as esm/bsa files should work on the XBOX, maybe even on the PS3. But neither Microsoft nor Sony, who even insist on checking updates prior to release, allow user generated content on their consoles...

I'll never understand this mindset. It's not a matter of an evil conspiracy to keep console players from having mod. Console payers simply don't have the tools necessary to deal with mods. Say you download "[censored] Mod", and "The Other [censored] Mod". They seem great! 100 gameplay hours later, you start getting CTDs, lag, etc. You check the file size of your saves, and holy [censored] it's 64mb! It turns out the second mod kept spawning cheese in the honningbrew meadery. Well, that svckS, but at least you were smart enough to keep back up saves....wait, you accidentally saved over it in the middle of a battle(or you figured things were peachy keen, and just saved over it)? Well, at least you backed up your game in a spot outside of the Skyrim saves folder like any reasonable modder does...except you didn't, because that's not a stock ability on consoles.

In meantime, you've been playing the game and noticed 12 hours after installing the mod that the inn at Dawnstar is missing an innkeeper. This was a potential bug in one of your mods. No biggie, just use the placeatme console command! But console don't have access to the console command. So you have to reload.

Script extenders wouldn't work at all.

The next mod sounds great, it completely overhauls combat! Now you...hold shift and cast various spells to weave spells together? Huh? And now you can roll and dodge by tapping G? Where will that be mapped to the controller?

Ooh, the next mod improves textures! Sounds great! Except it WAY overtaxes your xBox. It's unusable for ANYONE on console.

Where will you download these mods? Skyrim nexus? Probably not during this generation. Steam? Definitely not. They'd have to set up a console mod "marketplace" and lure modders, who are making these on PCs(and the CK isn't a lightweight application itself, and needs the Skyrim resources and .esm to function, so don't think you'll be doing it yourself), to upload there.

Yes, in theory you could fix some of these problems by giving access to the console(how would that work? A giant "activate console" button on the menu? And typing would be ungainly.), backing up the xBox's hard drive every time you download a new mod, etc. But the fact is that consoles simply don't have the freedom necessary to responsibly use most mods(by backing up saves), and some mods wouldn't work at all. You'd have to filter things out depending upon whether they would work for consoles. It simply isn't feasible.

I'm not stating things about the 360 itself. Only the crappiness of the timed exclusive deals that MS wouldn't be worried about if not for the xbox.

One of the first things you did in this thread was badmouth the 360 when you posted this:

I hate the 360.

If you do not care about your fellow gamers then it is unwise to expect them to care about you.

As far as you not being able to play right now you have my sympathy and at least you've got the DLC to look forwards to when it's finally out on your preferred platform.

All I did was say I don't like the 360.....stop back seat moderating.

/end discussion
Quoted for truth.

1) If you're so righteous and don't believe in console wars then don't partake in the so called one that is going on.

2) The arguing over whether or not I started a war has played more of a factor in this thread than any actual war of consoles.

To the other guy:

3) When I said "I hate the 360" - ppl should not get so defensive over someone having an opinion. It wasn't malicious - I had a reason. It was a simple sentence - IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS BIG OF A DEAL.

Grow up.

You know, when someone thinks there is a problem with a thread, use the report button.

Platform bashing isn't allowed here, as many people pointed out. So this can close.
