Why are some people complaining about the vampires new looks

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 12:50 am

Definitely agree with you. If you want your sixy vampires there are a gazillion mods for that, even before Dawnguard. I want my Dragonborn to look like a creepy scourge if he's going to be feeding on humans. That can't be good for you, after all.

My altmer vampire looks just like she did pre-transformation, but with darker makeup, somewhat sunken cheeks and glowing eyes. Then again, she was a normal vamp before she was a VL...

Proof? Bal created vampires, not Vile. You think Bal would give them the power to blend in? Pfft.

I love the new vampire look. Even that red line that everybody whines about. My character looks awesome.

Hmm I do wonder what the cyrodil clan was like before they got the ability to blend in.

Vampires are supposed to blend in with their prey, not look obvious.

The fact that most Vampires in TES live away from humans, usually in caves, is just plain stupid.

Eh, it's kind of a double-edged sword for me, and I can't decide which I like better. One the one hand, I absolutely LOVE how incredibly monstrous the vampires in Dawnguard are, if only because I started getting tired of the more modern view of vampires, being more desirable supermodels than anything else (I hate to use Twilight as an example, because I know there are others doing really similar things, but that's the most obvious). Vampires, to me, were always supposed to be merciless creatures of the night, something you should very much fear.

But on the other hand, even the more traditional monstrous vampires were six and seduction personified. Stoker's Dracula had quite a bit of not-so-subtle sixual symbolism in it. That was always kind of the horror with that book, Dracula used his seductive prowess to spread his influence and turn people into vampires. It was sort of the dark side of six, just without the brutality that usually comes with [censored]. So having the Volkihar vampires have hideous bat faces kind of defeats that purpose.

I'll probably never end up making a decision on this, lol. I guess I mostly appreciate the hideousness of Dawnguard's vampires because I like that Bethesda, whether intentional or not, is reminding us that vampires are a dangerous, heartless evil to be reckoned with, and a subject of horror stories, not just a supernatural teenage hearthrob.

I don't like the eyes, and the line. Only because it seems to flashy, and I would prefer slightly glowing red eyes. Maybe if they gave the player 3 transformations.

First Transformation: The "Ideal sixy" vampire type look. The pc has pale skin, plain red eyes, fangs, slightly gaunter face. The pc will always been in this constantly unless they transform into the two others.

Second Transformation: If the pc doesn't feed for 72 hours, or activates "Reveal form" he/she will have bat like features, longer fangs, gaunter face, the weird nose and eyes, claws, glowing bright red eyes.

Third Transformation: Vampire Lord.

Also maybe if they did it the more you fed the darker or brighter your eyes were.

Probably ugly as hell. Maybe they had a pureblood in their clan or two and they all decided to change their appearance.

Maybe the Volkihar should go the shrine of Clavicus Vile and get a face-change there for a thousand gold

See, the thing is the Volkihar fit the bill with ugly merciless creatures of the night. They are terrible, they are predatory and they are monstrous. They are the type of beast that will lurk in caves and stalk you cities at night time. Then they enthrall you and then take you away to the castle so that you can be fed on in their table slowly while you are aware, but otherwise unable to do anything. They kidnap people, they eat people, they are the savage creatures born out of a nightmare. Volkihar were never meant to have the Dracula influence, yet they do have some. They are more "Nosferatu" and "Boogeyman" than "Dracula"

Now the Order? They are monsters in their own right, but to a much more insidious and subtle degree. They are the people you would invite over to have a chat with on a fancy dinner table, sipping wine and talking politics, day to day stuff and etc. You could be their best friend, and yet their favorite meal. You can end up shaking hands with them over a board game, then end up in a grave somewhere. They might pass on as nice influential counts and nobles, but the fact that they are told to "manipulate the hand of society to mete our agendas" simply tell us they hold a good measure of power, especially since they are in the province that is the seat of an Empire. Most likely whispering poison in the ears of mortal rulers, as Potema engaged with vampiric generals in the time of war.

They are literately lions in sheep's clothing. They may dress themselves as good people, but most of them are manipulative and deceitful, sneaking into town at night into a boudoir to nibble on the succulent neck of a young woman. Seridur used vampire's seduction to entrall Relfina, Roland's lover in the fourth game. He was said to have been coveting her for quite awhile and harbored some lust for her. Being children of Molag Bal, who created the first vampire by [censored] her to death, there are obviously some dark sixual influences in there.

Take Seridur trying to seduce another man's lover, Movarth seducing Alva, who in turn seduced a man that was willing to burn down his own home and move in with her. There is always that dark, manipulative sixual seduction in there when it comes to some vampires of the Cyrodiilic clan. They fit the bill with Dracula. Cultures, well-mannered, civilized, seductive.

I love that about the two clans.

I think the order are like a poisonous flower. They may look beautiful but they are far more potent. I wonder what someone in TES would look like if every a member of every single vampire clan infected them at once. Would they be a monster, or the perfect combination of beauty and beast.

Oh yes, I even made a sort of a quote for my female Cyrodiilic vampire.

"Behold the beautiful flower; beware the serpent beneath it."

Don't steal it! :stare:

They would look ugly, since most vampires are ugly. But one strain would overide the other in any case. All I know is that vampirism changes a person's appearance to the point where you cannot recognize them. Read "Vampires of Illiac Bay" and you will know what I mean. Also, in Oblivion in the very first vampire dream, your character doesn't realize he is a vampire until after he fed. So the individual doesn't look the same at all when they go throug different stages.

I remember during pre-skyrim, people wanted to give the vampires a more "monster-like" appearance. We finally get that in Dawnguard and there's like a dozen threads complaining about how there character isn't "hot" any more. Vampires are creatures of the night, hunters of mortals, there suppose to look like this,

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_T1GXmgj7TQk/TTJubmNZp0I/AAAAAAAAAvM/ZKOxUNRXcMM/s1600/Vampire_51570_CN.jpg

UGLY. I don't like vampires being "sixy", as I said before vampires should be beastly. Compare these two photo's one from Pre-Dawnguard and the other from Dawnguard,

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb58378/elderscrolls/images/0/0c/Newvampface.PNG

The last one looks cooler in my eyes.
I like my male vamps to be animalistic beasts and my female vamps to be soul svcking gorgious vixens. I also wouldn't mind fangs i could actualy see, and getting rid of this whole stage 4 non-sense. Your vamp starves it should frenzy and drain the first person it comes across dry as a bone, with all the criminal attention such an abominable act would bring you. As things stand the werewolves in this game make the vampires look like emo brats playing lets pretend lol.
-edit- and bring back the nightmares! Loved reading those things in Morrowind. Some were pretty horrific.

There is so many "versions" of Vampires, they arent really supposed to have a specific look.
The historic ones people actually believed to exist usually just look like before they turned, just maybe pale and somewhat eerie eyes.
Then you have the "red-eyed aristocrat" versions which are styled after Dracula, wouldnt call those beautifull, if they are it is because they only turn attractive people.
Then you have the gay-tortured-boy version of Anne Rice or Twilight where being turned actually makes them beautifull.
Various other more modern ones.
The ones Skyrims has now look a bit like those from Legacy of Kaine if anything, in my opinion they look more like shaved were-dogs tbh.

As I prefer the first 2 versions and just got Dawnguard, Iam happy that Iam on PC and just change them to something close to the version I prefer before I even see them ingame.

Because people will complain about anything. If vampires didn't get a new look, they would complain about that. It's just human nature.

I think the bat nose feature looks cool on NPCs but I'm glad my character doesn't have it because I think it only appears for old vampires (and mine just recently contracted the disease). The eyes and whole facial appearance for the player DOES look more beastly (more demonic eyes, gaunt face etc,) which is awesome, I'm tired of the Twilight crap.
