PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #28

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:03 am

I think i'm done with waiting and not being told anything at all now.

EBgames has a pretty decent deal for trading games to get up to $250 towards a 360 right now. Skyrim PS3 is still worth enough to get bumped up to the $25 Trade-in Value |($8 and up get bumped to $25) for the deal, and one of the included 360 bundles even comes with a digital download of Skyrim (250gb, Forza 4 and Skyrim, think 1600 ms points too).

I'm thinking Microsoft is beginning to take advantage of this situation.. I swore to never get another suxbox but i'm 99% sure i'm going to trade off a bunch of my unplayed games for it tomorrow..

OK, play whatever you like ON whatever you like; but i must just really be getting old. I just don't see how Bethesda's combined missteps on the PS3 is causing people, here and elsewhere on the net, to go so far as swap consoles. Console to PC i get, you can do tons more on a PC than just game; but from one console to another?

I don't get it.

I understand that most, if not all, of their PS3 titles are messed up ports/lazy coding jobs, but isn't the RAM a bit too little for a game like Skyrim? A massive open world game where millions (lol) of things are going on and a lot of stuff to keep in memory? I have no idea what I'm talking about, it's just what I've snapped up from reading stuff.

Ponder this: If Bethesda actually knew something about PS3 development instead of continuously making pathetic ports and blaming shortness of RAM, would Skyrim be much better than what it is?

no. the ps3 has the same amount of ram as the 360. its just a split pool so you have to use the ram differently.

Gstaff, if you still bother to read these threads, please answer this.
Bethesda claimed that the performance was acceptable on all systems before release. However, after Skyrim was released, they confessed they knew of the problems on PS3. Why did Bethesda lie to us? I may be wrong, but isn't that false advertising? Isn't false advertising illegal?

I finally registered here after reading this forum for the last several months, just because I am getting sick of all the bull%^&* from Bethesda and how they are completely and utterly mishandling the Skyrim DLC situation for PS3 users. And for all of you non-PS3 users that keep saying we will forget or go away, you are dead wrong. I registered primarily to show that we are all still here, we are all still hacked off, and we are growing. Whether Bethesda likes it or not, this situation has become and continues to grow as a formal breach of warranty for all PS3 users. They put a product on the market, made promises to ALL potential purchasers of the product, and they have completely failed to honor those promises. This is class action lawsuit territory. With growing coverage by the mainstream media, this is a storm that is still gathering speed. Bethesda, what are you doing??? And where are the updates? When is the ast time that Gstaff addressed this issue directly? I don't pretend to have significant knowledge about the coding issues discussed here, so I will certainly defer to those that do, but after this length of time, shouldn't we know whether the coding issue is fatal or fixable? Well, Bethesda? TELL US SOMETHING.

Sadly there is no lawsuit. Mounted combat and new killcams are their protection as they are considered to be additional content or DLC or whatever by the Beth team. So if they fail at ever giving DLC, they will just say they gave mounted combat.

Sadly although it states there would be additional combat, they never technically stated that all the content for every system would be the same. It's a loophole.

OK, play whatever you like ON whatever you like; but i must just really be getting old. I just don't see how Bethesda's combined missteps on the PS3 is causing people, here and elsewhere on the net, to go so far as swap consoles. Very dedicated fans with very much overflowing wallets lol.

Wish I had the spare cash. Not for a system. I got some training equipment for boxing and other martial arts I want.

It boils down to knowing what your doing. It's clear that they do not.

Beyond this I'd say it's also knowing your limitations. Even if the system design itself is at fault, they should have been aware of it.

I don't blame the system so much as I blame the company. Because even if it is the system that's the issue, which I think is silly to me whether or not it is true, the company should have known. Especially since they've had experience on the PS3.

I think it's quite obvious why they lied.

The end of August really. Since then all they've said is "We don't have anything to say." The post on August didn't really add anything except they were working with Sony.
