PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #28

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:03 am

It turns your Playstation 3 into a transformer and it will try to kill you.

:hehe: i found that quite humorous for some reason.

In my opinion all this new info may confirm, my thinking. They are going to release Dawnguard, Heartfire & the next Dlc to Ps3 all on the same day, & maybe if we are lucky at a discount. To say sorry for the wait.

This is what i was trying to post yesterday. If you look through the coding...you can see where the PS3 DLC option is in there. Putting the Downloadable Content option on the main menu!! This is a good sign!

It's not hard to put a bit of inactive coding there, they could have done this knowing the pc users would find it. I'd say they have done this so their Christmas sales don't plummet too much. If people see that their is coding in a patch which dictates the " dlc's are coming " it might push consumers to buy skyrim or rebuy it.
I honesty think its a dirty money making tactic.

Over 6 weeks since our last official update on the situation, dishonored sales are not what they expected because people like me refuse to buy anything that has Beth's name on it. Whether try are the maker or not, if it has their name they get money from it.

Except that, assuming they leave this code how it is for the official patch release... this code isn't inactive. At least not when it comes to the menu index.

no blizzard is.

Haven't played a Blizzard game that came out after 2003. I hear that WoW was an awesome game but all games die eventually and support wanes. I can't hold it against Blizzard for keeping an epic game running for almost a decade, even though it has pretty much made that style of click-timer MMORPG now stale (see SWTOR...I love that game because I'm a Star Wars nut, but it is a stale interface).

I'm not a professional coder or programmer. When I spoke to a mate of mine about this, he said u can add inactive coding to any program, all it does is allow it to be " activated " at a later stage if need be.

**EDIT** - it's like a bomb buried somewhere, it's useless unless activated. (Turned on, not in a sixual way)

notice their tweet says ALL their skyrim fans!

That could be taken a couple of ways. I'm still a fan of Skyrim, but I'm not a fan of Bethesda. Ehh...

I can understand why people don't like killcams, and I've heard about problems with them. I can at least be thankful I've had no problems with the kill cams and they make some interesting game shots and allow me to take a quick sip of my drink while they're going on.

What I'm saying is:

MainList.entryList.push({text: "$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT" + (iPlatform == 3 ? "_PS3" : ""), index: StartMenu.DLC_INDEX, disabled: false});

If this code was inactive than it should say "disabled: true" instead of "disabled: false"

Don't try and confuse him with things like facts and the truth. It could be in the offical patch notes and some people would still deny the meaning behind it.

I don't think this code really mean much. If it did, why are they still so silent about? Why do they still say they don't know or they aren't sure? Why are they still so vague? Wouldn't they at least say that they are making progress? No not even that. This code shouldn't be used for hope.

They never gave a PC release date for the DLC until it was released. They have said progress has been made but typical bethesda is fairly tight lipped about things. The only thing a lot users are going to accept IS the release so words mean absolutely nothing so why bother pleasing no body? As Patch 1.8 is written if installed on the ps3 it will add the downloadable content option to the main menu. If it doesn't mean anything then explain why its there.

I have no idea why it is there so I am going to wait and see. But as of now, it means nothing. Like you just said, a lot of users are only going to accept a release. I am one of those. This code means nothing until I see a date.

You do realize how stupid that sounds right? Why would they spend money and waste time doing that...when they could actually be, oh, i dont know, FIXING THE PROBLEM?!? seriously? That is the biggest bunch of skeever shizz i have ever heard!

Yeah it should, but they can always change it before they submit it to Sony.
As I said earlier, I believe they put this in knowing the pc users would find it.

Spend money on typing in a few lines of coding ? It would take a coder less then a minute to write that. It would cost them nothing to do, and would get us off their back a little.

I'd like nothing more then to be wrong. Right now, I hope Beth prove me wrong, but as it stands, it's just coding to keep us off their back a bit.

Saying things like this reminds me of all the people claiming, when Mists of Pandaria was trademarked, that it wasn't going to be a WoW expansion and that Blizz was just deliberately playing a joke on the players... attempting to misdirect their attention from what would be the REAL expansion.

Seriously... why would they get people's hopes up just to dash them on the floor at a later date? That's not smart business...

Who wants to play "Who wants to be the guinea pig?" I for one will not be getting it until I see how it performs. I will not make the same mistake again.

The sad thing is, the DLC and their problems are hit and miss. You may find out all these peoples games run perfect, then get the one that runs like trash

Well Hearthfire really shouldn't be that hard to implement, it doesn't add much. This Dragonborn DLC assuming the info we have is correct would be a new world, meaning it would be loaded separately from Skyrim which should make it easier to add because it's not adding more for the PS3 to handle while handling everything else Skyrim is running.

I believe Dawnguard is the biggest issue for them.

I don't get why that should be different than the game running through cells

In my opinion all this new info may confirm, my thinking. They are going to release Dawnguard, Heartfire & the next Dlc to Ps3 all on the same day, & maybe if we are lucky at a discount. To say sorry for the wait.

They said they wouldn't be giving any surprises and holding off ALL the DLC till they ALL worked would just cause so much more issue. People have already lost alot of enthusiasm for dawnguard. To have to wait till the last DLC is released, then wait for it to work properly on the PS3, then assuming the other 2 work, and only then releasing it sounds a bit hard.

The discounted all 3 games at once is the GotY assuming it even comes out lol.

Well if is "dragonborn dlc" thing is true & knowing that because the 30 day deal is over, the idea of the patch 1.8 coming out putting in the dlc menu, & all 3 dlc's coming out for ps3 on the same day doesn't seem to hard. to me. but it all depense on 2 things,
A: is the code real?
B: is so how far along is the next dlc?
i'm guess they maybe aiming for a christmas release to get the most money because of christmas.
P.s again all of this is just my opinion i could be way off.

I'd assume it'd be around christmas. Everyone loves a christmas release in the game industry. Christmas is winter, skyrim is in winter, dragonborn in Nord beliefs, why not.

But the end of the 30 day restraint as someone else said, not means that beth can simply release it to whever whenever they want. It will still probably follow the same pattern. Either 360, then PC, them maybe PS3. Or 360 and PC, and then maybe PS3.

That's what I'd assume based off of their track record and what they've said.

Before I don't think it took exclusive deals to delay the PS3 DLC by 8 months.

Actually holding off the dawnguard DLC and Hearthfire to release with Dragonborn would be a GOOD move for them to make. What better way to generate enthusiasm than by releasing the old content with the new. Even better if they release with some kind of deal. I'd pay $25 for all of it.
