Dueling Anywhere: How important is it for you?

Post » Sat Aug 10, 2013 7:38 am

I think the needs another option between its first and second. Duelling anywhere wouldn't make me not buy the game but I am happier without it. I voted first in the absence of a better option.

Duelling is often a source of irritation. Random requests, being bugged with tells to duel, people duelling in inconvenient locations etc.

My strong preference is for duelling in designated areas (eg. fighting pits, arenas, guild practice halls).

I think lepers has the right of this. After BGs were introduced world PvP just about completely dried up apart from in a few locations. PvE content became a lot less interesting.

Here's the thing. I don't see this as being a huge deal. Yes I get the RP angle and the fact that you can't truly find out who's the better character with your buddy, but this isn't just a PvP game. If it was all PvP, then yes dueling would be a bigger portion of it.

But you can still engage in many RP functions, and all PvE functions without dueling. It's a small part of PvP, and so I don't see it being a deal breaker for anyone who isn't just looking for an excuse besides I can't afford it.

I'm sure there is someone out there who feels exactly that way, but my point is it isn't going to break this game if we can't sit in chairs and duel.

For some perhaps, but I enjoy PvE questing/exploring etc so not something that bothered me.

I'm sorry, but if you think dueling would even take away 1% of the pvpers from Cyrodill, you need to put down the crack pipe.

Seriously, how often does anyone really duel? You think pvpers will duel for 5 minutes and then go, "Well, I've pvped today, so screw the epic campaign going on in Cyrodiil"?

Not bloody likely.

Well, first it is a pvp game. It's a pve game as well.

Second, dueling has very little to do with true pvp anyway.

But most important, it is just one thing on a list of things ESO doesn't have that should just automatically be in an MMO in 2014, IMHO.

I am only OK with 1v1 fights in the context of an arena or training ground. This game offers a PVE only experience within the borders of the alliance territories. To engaue in player vs player combat people only need to hit level 10 and venture into main part of the map where they can fight other players of the opposing factions.

It is made that way for a reason and it should stay that way. Reason being if you want to get good at pvp get out there and fight for your team. Show your loyalty and do your duty as a member of that that faction. Go practice on other people practicing there. go train with other people training. And support the efforts of you nation.

I agree it's odd that it isn't in, but at the same time I don't see it as a deal breaker for enough people to be a driving force.

I would guess it was on the list of feature to be added if time allowed. Remember there are negatives that have to considered. Leave it out, and you don't have to deal with those negatives.

Option 2 or 3 fits you better than option 1. I doubt anyone that is a member of the Bethesda forums would decide to not buy the game for a feature such as dueling. The first and last options were extremes that I didn't think many or any people would choose. Hence the small amount of votes. Remember now, if dueling is implemented sometime before launch you're not going to buy the game ^_^.

A simple option can prevent random requests being sent to you to duel, don't hang around people that bug you to duel, Dueling should be a natural event and have the ability to occur in almost any area.

We are talking options, more options that have minimal affects on players is a good thing. Please don't compare sitting in a chairs to dueling... I'm not even going to make the argument for that statement...

Blunt, but I like it and agree. +1

Double agree with you. Dueling should be in any new MMO. It is as basic a concept as crafting. It should just be in every MMO.
