That voice man...That voice can get chicks and inspire men.

Actually though there were books saying the Telvanni were a major part of the slave trade there were few slaves actually in-game that belonged to the Telvanni, and even so most slaves are weak and would be poor specimens to anyone but a novice and there were Telvanni like Fyr who expanded his life span by 4000 years and used Necromancy to create instead of enslave. Thus further proving my point and while the University did have restrictions the body of Criminals and traitors is perfectly fine since most of the time they were murderers, thus a fitting punishment. Also not all Necromancer aspired to become liches, Fyr being my example again as well as several other Telvanni necromancers who lived to an old age due to necromancy and never went towards lichdom and finally the whole soul thing is more of a theory I had :P
Slaves would actually be fine as undead servants, especially in morrowind were it was difficult to acquire bodies. The rest of the dunmer are very antinecromancy and I don't believe many of the telvanni would allow their own to be raised as servants, or even have many who were dead to be raised since they use magic to extend their lives. Also slaves were not presented a lot in general settings in morrowind but telvanni had the most slave markets. They were also one of the only places in morrowind that had slaves that were not argonian or khajit. Also I have seen several slaves in telvanni territory. One of the best examples I can think of is the inn in sadrith mora which had several khajit and argonian servants. Divarth fyr who was a member of the house also had an argonian servant who use to be a slave. The argonian opted to remain in fyr's service since they had developed a friendship.

Edit- also where did it say necromancy was the cause of extending their lives? I do believe that is very likely, but do not recall them ever saying it. Fyr could have used corpus for all I know.

Dunmer ain't so much Necromancy. They just don't want anyone else profaning the bodies of their ancestors. But believe you me, they are just fine with using the art to protect their tombs.

Yes but they don't bring them outside the tombs, big difference. By that logic nords must be necromancers since they have undead guard their tombs.
