Potions in my inventory! ARRRRRGH!

Post » Tue Aug 28, 2012 5:11 am

Running out of space in your inventory? All it took for me was to take out the 25 cure disease potions that were sitting malevolently in my pack. I personally never use potions of magicka or stamina or any of the specialised draughts and elixirs, so when you have a collective amount of 400 potions that would otherwise sit there for generations, get ready for FREAKIN' SPRING CLEANIN'. This page is all about your worst experiences with potions.

May sweetrolls quake at the sight of you.

I remember I have been carrying loads of potions around. I really need to clean out my potions. How does Dragonborn carry so freakin' many?
Edit- He probably has invisible pockets or body storage. Or maybe he has a telepathic connection to a secret storage area. His mind can only hold so much weight! Good idea or what?

I have a container in my basemant specifically for the ridiculous amount of potions. I do a regular inventory cleaning when I make it home.. I always make sure to hold on to plenty of health, a few magicka and maybe a couple stamina potions. I also keep some poisons for the tough enemies and an invisibility potion, just in case.

I take a few Magicka potions, but HEAPS of health potions. They have saved my life on many occassions. Curse those Ancient Dragons! :swear:

I can understand that. I have a chest in proudspire manner. I made the mistake of using it as a general storage chest . It takes a few minutes at top scrolling speed to get to the bottom.

I drop them all into a barrel in the basemant.
Cure Disease potions were the ones I used the most oftem, until I got a random drop necklace that makes me completely immune.
Now it's just hundreds of health potions.

For me personally, this hits a nerve. Alchemy takes so much effort to level, say compared to enchanting or spell schools, that I end up with a bunch of useless potions which I'll never use (with current char). The fact that I need to wait a long time to sell them makes it all the more tedious. Last time I just ended up drinking them all, just as a last resort.

Sell em. I pick up every potion I find, because they weight so little and have relatively high value. Keep around a few Health potions, some Stam too. Magicka if my character uses magic. Otherwise I never use potions.

I have to say, the best use for potions has got to be selling them. Who uses a blacksmith potion worth two hundred when the could by a better sword with the extra money (I personally don't buy swords).

If you use a Blacksmith potion, you can craft even more superior gear while the effects of the potion lasts. So I don't agree with your opinion.

True, but I still reckon they're better for selling.

But you can make even better weapons that do even more damage, by using the potion. And the faster you kill, the faster you earn money, yes?

I'm not talking about blacksmith potions alone, but about useless potions in general. Do you honestly use potions that increase your Alteration for 20 seconds?

Only if you are a low level Alteration level! But we are/were talking about Blacksmith potions.

No, we are not. Well, maybe you are, but I'm talking about potions that aren't worth the Dragonborn's attention accept to take to the nearest store.

I carry around a lot of potions, but I also use a lot. I never go adventuring without a good inventory of restore health, restore stamina, fortify marksman, resist magic/frost/shock, damage health poisons, slow poisons.

Everything else I sell.

Yeah, I only ever carry the stuff I need. The other things I either ditch, sell or store.

Ditch? Where do you ditch you potions? Have you ever found that junk again, or have you lost it forever?

I have a ridiculous amount of potions in my inventory, and when I try to sell them the vendor runs out of money after buying about 5. I know Oblivion's shop system wasn't as realistic as Skyrim's, but I kinda wish they would have used it just so I could get rid of some of my junk without having to fast travel around all of skyrim.

Sell, sell, sell. Unless your RPing a hoarder. My wild mage/hermit is an odd fellow. He does menial labor to make money and doesn't see the value in the potions he makes if they're not useful to him. So, if he mixes up something vile, or just plain useless, he tosses it in a barrel, or on the street, or in the dungeon. Lined up about two dozen nearly worthless Damage Health poisons on Carlotta's stall. Someone bought, took, or stole them.

Never had a problem with potions. My character is too proud to use them, and instead relies on his Restoration skills.

Oddly enough, he doesn't mind carrying around a pair of summoning staves.

Yes! The fortify potions are pretty vital for magic wielders, and you can make some nice three ingredient, multi-effect potions that are great for the class you are playing as.

For the mages... Nightshade + Glow Dust + Tundra Cotton = Fortify Magicka & Fortify Destruction

For the archers.. Juniper Berries + Elves Ear + Snowberries = Fortify Marksman & Resist Fire

For the warriors... Tundra Cotton + Slaughterfish Scales + Thistle Branch = Fortify Block, Fortify Heavy Armour & Resist Frost

I always carry class specific potions and enemy specific poisons with me, and when I've made a ton of gold I can afford to buy all the plentiful, vigorous and ultimate M/H/S potions from apothecaries. Then I can give my followers the weaker home made health potions.
