Ps3 Impressions.

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 9:33 am

I'm glad. Tons of people were worried on the boards about the ps3 version, it's good to see now that I have it how well it runs, and without crashe for others. All other people I have read about on this forum with the ps3 version havnt had crashes but I havt read about that many. Here is to hoping its just me, or maybe some dust =p. or maybe my ps3 feels neglected from not playing it for months lol.

Probably not allowed to link to footage yet coz the official release date hasn't been reached, saying that it isn't leaked footage ;)

Looking at that PS3 footage in 720P and some of the comments, it seems as though the PS3 version of Skyrim might look a bit better and run smoother than the Xbox360 version? Of course Bethesda could never admit this because of the big deal they have going with Microsoft that has been running hot since Skyrim was announced but at least it is an indication that Bethesda have been working just as hard on the PS3 version!

No flaming please I am not trolling it is just my observation after watching 100's of vids!

I have seen comments all over saying ps3 looks better than 360.........

Crashes? svcks for ps3 owners. Save often!

Thank god I have an xbox.
The Xbox version had similar problems for other people y'know, I expected Skyrim to have a few problems, glad their aren't too many. :)

*shocked*

What kind of hands do you have?

PS3 has to be one of the most uncomfortable contollers ever.

I bought a Batterang controller because of the issues i've had with the ergonomics.
wat

PS controller has been largely unchanged since the PS1, most people like it. I personally can't stand the 360 controller, too big.

running perfectly NO SPOILERS

Nice link, thanks. :)

That's a pretty reassuring video and as this is the first gameplay I've seen outside of official demo's, official videos, etc., I gotta say the game looks awesome and I'm pretty damn impressed. :goodjob:

edit: Forgot to mention the video was recorded with an Iphone too, which makes me all the more excited to see it on my TV.

If anyone wants some even better quality PS3 footage, let me know via PM. I've got a link, but it does contain a minor quest spoiler.

Are we not allowed to have a ps3 thread without people saying "OHH HAHA THATS WHAT U GET FUR BUYING THE INFEREIIORRR CONSOLEEEE, XBOX RULEZZZ!!" It's annoying, please grow up, both consoles do the same exact thing which is play video games.

Good to hear! :foodndrink:

Getting Skyrim on PS3 (shipped), at launch getting 360 so I can't wait to compare but sounds great. Thanks to those who posted general impressions and left out spoilers and the like.

I've heard conflicting reports now. Stan the Ugly played for like...14 hours or something? and didn't encounter one bug, one crash, any problems besides his console heating up and stuttering a bit, which happens when you put it in an enclosed space (his is in a desk).

Different people had different experiences. Perhaps the OPs ps3 is older and in worse shape. Perhaps his disk is imperfect. Perhaps it's just bad luck.

Well Stan's PS3 is "the first one ever made" as in it's very old. Perhaps the crashing is a problem with PS3 Slim?

That seems like a possibility. The OPs also could have been damaged at some point. Lots of possible reasons.

To all of you saying it's the OP's Ps3 that's the problem - I doubt it. Bethesda has a history of buggy/crashing games on Ps3. Fallout 3 and New Vegas were terrible for this, and Oblivion froze on me an annoying number of times as well.

This. Playstation has the worst controllers ever! They're 95% the same as the PS1. Can we get a upgrade please? The Xbox controllers are amazing. Before anyone calls me a fan boy, I have both consoles, and am buying Skyrim for the PS3.

The PS3 version clearly has shadows that the 360 is lacking. Compare the leaked footage of the path to bleak falls barrow and this is extremely evident as the player passes the banner blowing in the wind. The PS3 version has a shadow that moves with the banner and the 360 has no shadow at all. That said, I also noticed that foliage seems to look more detailed on the 360 version and textures may be a bit sharper (hard to tell from a youtube video). In the end, I suspect both versions will have their respective pluses and minuses, but wont be different enough to clearly choose one over another.

I've never wanted to say this in fear of jinxing myself, but I've never encountered a single bug on Oblivion that was serious. Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the other hand...

ive been playing playstation since i was a kid never had a problem with the controller its always felt comfortable to me... on the other hand the xbox controller has always felt odd to me (especially the first xbox controllers not so much an issue with the 360 controller but i still done like it makes me feel like im playing games sideways) ultimately it comes down to preference and i enjoy ps3 where i know many that like the 360s offset controller... most people i know use it only because its Plug-n-play to the pc.,,

Not here, Oblivion rarely froze for me on my 40 GB PS3 (HD upgraded to 320GB) same with FO3, I think I had around 4 or 5 crashes in over 200 hours of gametime, not too bad considering the game size.
