PSYICHIC GUARDS! YEEEEEHHAAAAAAAA

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 6:02 pm

EDIT : wooops error in title it's written PSYCHIC of course.

So many people are already complaining about it...The one thing that hindered stealth gameplay the most in Oblivion is back and boosted. I don't understand. Didn't they supposedly get rid of it? NO? This alone invalidates the whole assassin/thief gameplay. And what about the witness system? How is it even remotely logical to incorporate a witness and report system if the guards still have superpowers?

I don't understrand. Please tell me this will be patched. This sould be patched. It HAS to be patched. Shouldn't be that diificult to tweak that tiny part of an otherwise perfect AI (sarcasm).

the guards aren't psychic, simply putting a bucket over their head of everyone in the room is enough to grab anything you want with no problem. Sounds like you just fail at thievery.

It should be patched, I thought that Bethesda has said otherwise about the guard system? Even now though, it's a little better than Oblivion, with the different holds, and crime committed there is only important to that hold.

P.S. A traveller killed in the wilderness raised the bounty. He was not seen by anybody else that I knew of.

Uhu, uhu. Does what you said even make sense to you? There is clearly a problem with them not seeing through buckets but being able to see through walls. Or does it sound normal to you? Think a bit before answering please.

And yeah, what Archeologist said. Wanderer killed with nobody around, still get a bounty. This is just ridiculous. We're back in 2006. It's legitimate to hope for at least some evolution in this area. I'm not asking for the world, just a logical AI implementation, is it really that much asked with over 3 years of develepment time?

Psychic Guards? Do not know what you're on about.

I love the fact that you can kill all witnesses to remove your bounty, and I can murder someone in town and actually hide whilst they look for the murderer as they've found the body.

The Regional Bounty System WOULD have been good, however Bounty's do not go down automatically (Guards never forget your crimes). If you have committed a 5 gold bounty, i'd expect them to forget it over 5 days. They dont. Which kinda makes the Regional Bounty System pointless as you'll still have to pay it eventually.

But 10x better then Rens Guard Overhaul for oblivion which svcked so much dike.

Animals can be witnesses I killed a hunter and was given a bounty. His dog just sat and watched. After putting fido down the bounty was removed....weird

Pretty much this. I'm not experiencing this at all. Don't think you can do anything drastic at level 1 with 20 sneak or something.

I have been arrested for picking a lock in a empty room with the door closed and in sneak. They seem to have failed to learn from the mistakes in Oblivion.

Psychic Guards? Do not know what you're on about.

In Oblivion I was wandering in an empty graveyard at night. No one was around. I've entered a mausoleum and attacked an NPC who was there. 1 second later a guard teleported behind me and arrested. This effect is called "psychic guards" in the Elder Scrolls terminology.

Doesn't it change if you alter Actorfade?

fLODFadeOutMultActors=2~15

You could just select 2 and not know what's goin' on in town, or 15 and have some really far npc glitch into the ground to 'cause seismic vibrations making the cell unable to be loaded

This is why we need the creation kit we can fix all of the bugs...if only we could have it now

did this happen often? Or just once?

I know putting buckets over the guard's head's is exploiting another glitch in the game but I want to be fully immersed and not be forced to resort to such methods, which would severely affect my gamimg experience as an adept of the shadows

EDIT : So many fans are nitpicking(in a good way) about wanting to have a immersive experience. I am surprised this doesn't bother people. I can live with it but come on, I'll just say it out loud : it svcks!

That just changes how far the player can see NPCs before they fade out. The NPCs are still there regardless of the setting, the game always loads 5x5 cells around the player and all NPCs within that cell radius are loaded, just not shown to the player.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk2r6EohfT8 Ya there is nothing you can do about the game's AI CPU computations, so if you know about it, ignore it or battle it. Want me to try and help you forget about it ^_~

Hi,

I'm not sure it's purely the guards, but their animal friends!

Anyone else notice that if you kill a domesticated animal you get a bounty right away? Then, immediately after, you get told you've "killed the last witness" and the bounty is removed?

This suggests that animals, domesticated ones at least, are able to "witness" your deeds. Possibly in turn the guards find out about it.

I do remember reading about this bug, or one very similar, but also read that it was squashed in testing way before release. Possibly fixed on consoles but not PC or something?

Scoob.

And in that case the companion reported you. In Oblivion it was impossible to kill guards without bounty the normal way as the attacked guard would report you before dying.
This is a murder problem, you could steal anything as the stolen items did not report you

Seems obvious to me. Sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that ensues are much greater when you evolve in a world that has at least some realism.
