Put some damn water to drink in the game.

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 2:58 pm

Seriously, I don't think everyone drinks JUST mead. I mean, there's children running around.

Every drink in this game has Alcohol.

So someone, please fix this.

This is a perfectly valid mod suggestion. Some people want more realism in their games. I second this mod request.

I like to pretend when I eat an apple or potato that I'm getting the juice from them. I would like this though :)

But them not drinking water IS realistic for the time. Beer was drunk in those times instead of water due to the water being so 'dirty', and there where no filtering or anything, so putting water as something to drink would actually make it UN-realistic. :P

nothing wrong with precious water, and streams to drink from enough, but why not in a bottle, or did Nords drink from the buckets?

I mean yes good idea, you could even work at a stream filling bottles with clean water as a craft!

There are empty wine bottles, so you could fill them up with water, then add a spell in the 'Alteration' line that lets you fitter it, but the spell would give no XP at all, so you would not be able to lvl up on water filtering. lol

Sounds like Skyrim needs its own Project Purity
Stream water should be fine to drink. Or you could boil it with a fire spell I guess. Also, when a unicorn dips its horn into water it's supposed to purify it. If you wanted to make a quest where you go out and find a unicorn.

You could drink out of toilets in FO3 and FONV, I don't see the harm in drinking out of a well after that ;)

Wow, your brilliant.

Seriously, Purifying water with magic is an amazing idea.

Someone needs to make it happen!

I'm kind of wondering how drinking is going to be incorporated into the game. I'm planning on porting my needs mod over from the Fallouts, and it'll be easy enough to add bottled water to vendor inventories, but I haven't taken a look at what the bodies of water actually are, and what it's going to take to make them behave like activators as they did in Fallout. We're also missing the drinking animation I'm guessing?

Well every town has a well. I just imagine that people are free to load up a bucket of water whenever they need and take it home. Could easily dunk a tankard into the bucket when they need it. Bottled water... doesn't make much sense to me. Not in a medieval fantasy world.

If anything, I'd suggest adding filled buckets and/or basins of water into homes and taverns.

Since there are no toilets in Skyrim why not add toilets you can drink from? Two birds killed with one stone.

A skin would be more period accurate than a bottle for varying around water. It was not uncommon for soldiers to keep a bladder of water in there pants/shirt especially in colder areas. It would act as both a source of drinking water and a reservoir of body heat.

I like this a lot.

Especially since I am considering the "hardcoe" mods. (Where you need water/food/sleep/etc)

What do you mean, I have found plenty of toilets (well, at least two) in Skyrim. What do you think all those small rooms containing just a bucket and a stool were. I though that was pretty inventive of them to make it so under the radar. :)

I'll second anything brining realism to the game. Skyrim could use more realistic drinks, toilets, kids, hunger, weight, leveling, NPCs and everything.

If you want realism in this game, then does that mean you want the Dragons, Monsters, Magic and Sabre Cats removed?

They should have had hardcoe mode; Drink too much mead, you are intoxicated and have negative effects, drink water to survive, sleep, etc.

Drinking water in the middleages was a bad idea. Even the kids drank very light beer. The water in general was not clean enough to drink

I agree with what the other people have said; in the middle ages, it wasn't only looked down on, it was considered STUPID to drink water instead of beer, mead, or wine. Why? Because if you got diarrhea during that time period, you had about an 80% chance of death. Also, no streams were clean enough to drink from, not even straight out of glaciers, because the bacteria comes from animal poop, which is everywhere. I mean, just imagine what sort of diseases you'd get from eating frost troll poop. You'd probably blow up.

So I'd be all for you being able to drink water if each time you did you had an 80% chance of getting a debilitating disease.

Its not a survivor game tho, so you would not want to make it to hard to do that. However, If you where going to go hard core, then you would want to do it so if you die, the game gets deleted, or you can't call your self a hard core player. lol

Everyone did drink mead then. Because water sources in the middle ages were to contaminated to drink without purifying with alcohol.

Agreed and me too. I try to eat and sleep every day and always wish I just had some water to go with my stew, lol. That clear mountain stream water looks so refreshing!

So I'd be all for you being able to drink water if each time you did you had an 80% chance of getting a debilitating disease.

Ah, but you could actually make it a crafting recipe. You'd need some stream water, an empty bottle to put it in and a cooking pot. Boil the water and put it in the bottle, set it outside for a while to get cold if you want to.
