EA putting micro-transactions "into all of our games&#34

Post » Thu Feb 28, 2013 9:01 am

Stopped playing games, or stopping buying games? Because I've been halfway there for some years now. Or ever since the lazy cellshaded era started.

Playing. I sold my Xbox a year ago and have not played anything other than free phone games since. And even those are time killers at the docs office.

Isn't that the game that actually had a bunch characters on the disc that were going to be sold as DLC later?

E'eyup----there's 12 extra characters that are greyed out and to unlock 'em you need to buy the DLC. I actually don't mind this but I would have liked to be able to unlock those characters during the main game as well.

as long as its like hats in TF2 i don't really care. but if its stuff that is important to actual game play then that is a big no go.

on the other hand it would not surprise me to see them with hold content to be sold as a micro transaction. like for the new simcity game i could see them charging money for different architecture styles as opposed to them being already in game like in simcity 4.

then again the only EA game ive played since simcity 4 was dragon age origins.

Didn't they do that with DA:O as well? IIRC, Shale was originally finished but removed and sold as DLC.

I think that was one of the first things I recall fuelling the suspicion that they were trimming off original game content to sell separately, though I guess micro-transactions are a slightly different implementation: more scope for bilking the consumers that way.

honestly, i probably wouldn't hate DLC quite as much if i never saw the area on the map that was only for shale's DLC yet left in for everyone to see

Well this doesn't surprise me -- EA made a killing off their mobile games so... why not?

The gaming industry is well and truly dead, i don't buy new games anymore, i have lost all faith in a once great industry, EA can go burn in hell for all i care.

All i need is my PC, my Xbox and Xbox 360 and all my games from Pre-2010.

What happened to cheats? what happened to buying a FULL game for £20-£30?

Congrats EA, you have destroyed one of the largest industries in the world

i think so. at the very least they did use some of their developing time to advertise the dlc ingame. regardless if it were content premade but with held i still dislike the whole aspect of having a quest starter and then finding out as i go to follow it that i must then purchase a dlc.

but imo there were many things wrong with origins, one of my worst purchases.

Hold down 'X' to enter vehicle. Now, pay a total of 10 Origin points to actually use it! Now pay 20 Origin points to move forward! Aw, leaving the tank so soon? That will be another 20 Origin points.

And another 600 roundhouse kicks to the face of every greedy director at EA.

Meh, EA doesn't publish any games I care for anyways. The last title published by EA that I even sort of liked was Dragon Age Origins, but even that was fairly meh (spiritual successor to BG my ass).

Still, I think it's dirty to put micro-transactions in a game you've already payed ~$60 for. I don't care if they're shoved down my face or not. Now, if they want to drop the base price of a game down to ~$30 (even for new releases) and THEN add micro-transaction, perhaps I could deal with it. But that is not going to happen.

So now they want money from the base game, DLC, AND micro-transactions? LMAO they can kiss my ass.

First you buy the game, then you feel guilty for not getting the complete experience unless you throw them even more cash. Don't you know, it's a good business move.

Then you watch their logo on their next trailer and want to instantly puke .

What?

They've all grown so large from greed they no longer count as single companies.

Picture this for a battle scene:

A huge Demon creature from the dephs of hell (EA) Followed by it's admirals (Activision and co) leading hordes of braindead slaves (The companies they have absorbed) with a huge battle station called the Origin that shoots particle beams to the good guy's weapons and vehicles forcing them to pay to use them.

The good guys are a Group of white Paladins (Valve, Obsidian etc) With huge gleaming swords. They are followed by huge armies of small soldiers (Indie Developers) Who have not much chance against the big guys without the power of Valve's secret weapon, Steam.

I actually have a game that might have this nusance in...Capcoms Street Fighter X Tekken, there's alot of gems, extra characters and costumes that you have to buy online. They said they did that to save disk space so they can put more in it.

I love it when companies don't compromise their vision, and do their uttermost to serve you the product as http://www.dealspwn.com/writer/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/goldenpoo3-540x405.jpg.

Bless 'em.

Buy a 60 dollar game, and pay 50 bucks on it later. Woo! I remember 110 dollars would get me 5 games.
