My GPU temperature is 57 degrees in game - it gets warmer playing WoW.

My PC was dismantled and rebuilt 3 weeks ago (2 weeks 5 days, since I did it on the Sunday), I cleaned out not all that much dust and it runs perfectly fine. This is not a PC issue. I have more than 30 other games installed on this machine ranging from World of Warcraft (CPU taxing) to Deus Ex Human Revolution, both Mass Effects, GTA 4, etc... I'm getting a very solid 60 FPS after installing the driver recommended by Your Nemesis between crashes in RAGE, it's just texture issues and crashes.

Edit: Yes, including new thermal paste, I didn't do the graphics card because the graphics card was only taken out of its packaging the day I rebuilt it (and was ironically purchased specifically to avoid these kind of issues when RAGE was released.)

Did you install the 11.9 update then apply the rage update? That's what I did and the game textures are fine. When I just installed the rage driver by itself the game didn't work at all. But like you said your other games work fine so I would try to validate the files in steam and if that doesn't work try re-installing the game. Sorry I don't want to waste your time and I really would love to have you enjoy this game.

Yeah, I'm sure your hardware is fine though, its just the graphic drivers.

Yes, since the graphic drivers don't work this game is automatically DaiKatana. That game had so many graphic driver problems. I remember waiting 3 years for the new drivers from ATI.

Wait...nevermind all I did was make a config file using commands found all over the internet. Hell you can search Call of Duty commands and use them. Anyway, yes someday you may be able to enjoy the game, on a console.

I'm sorry you're not one of the few chosen ones to become a God, known as PC Gamers. P.S. I love you

your still a [censored] idiot for being a [censored] spoiled [censored] and complaining when you probably never even updated your drivers to run the game.

end.

*YOU* still clearly haven't read the part of the post where I upgraded my drivers before making the post. Just because it isn't intricately detailed in the first post. It still stands that you're the one being censored yet you don't have the intellect to read a post before responding to it. Now get the [censored] out of my thread you [censored].

I verified the game installation after the first time I ran the game, came back saying it's ok. This was obviously before I removed the 'videos' folder from base\ so revalidating it now would most likely point that out. I am loathed to attempt reinstalling the game due to the lack of bandwidth I have available to me out here in the middle of nowhere (got to love British ISPs) and 22gb would pretty much write off my weekend.

When you say 'rage update', I assume you mean http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU121AMDCatRagePerfDriver.aspx ?

A few posts back that was specified to contain out dated open GL components - google doesn't show any rage specific update yet (might not have been cached).

After the above mentioned post, I am using the following driver: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalystOpenGL42BetaWin.aspx

Edit: nevermind, read this thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1238099-do-not-install-rage-ati-drivers/

Back to black screen crashes with http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU121AMDCatRagePerfDriver.aspx installed

Try these commands in your set launch options. Earlier today my game kept going to a black screen when I had a lot of commands in there. I kept these and the game worked again.

+cvaradd g_fov 12 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +vt_maxPPF 16

Also to make up for the graphics i have a rageconfig.cfg with the following commands:
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 8192
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly 8192
vt_pageimagesizeunique 8192
vt_pageimagesizevmtr 8192
vt_restart
vt_maxaniso 4
image_anisotropy 4

Hope that works man.

Carldj90: Cheers dude, I'm actually back to getting engine rendered content. However;

http://imageshack.us/f/153/2011100700004.jpg/

I'm still getting broken textures and another problem I hadn't noticed until now: green shadows?

I wanted to leave Ghost Hideout to see if the texture faults around the window were just a further expansion of the texture problems I had noticed outside but upon 'using' the door, I got kicked back to the main menu, and upon loading my save game, I got a crash on the Ghost Hideout loading screen...

Glad I could get you into the game :D

Try this one here +g_showplayershadow 1 in the set launch options.

and here are a few others ones

+image_usecompression 0
+image_anisotropy 16

+m_smooth 0 - better mouse movement
+r_swapInterval 1 - forces vsync

See if the showplayer shadow helps with the green shadows. and the other two image ones try one at a time. These are the other set launch options i used earlier one of these commands gave me a black screen after two days.

Textures were kind of working, getting a nice stable 60 FPS (which I guess was ID software's only goal for this game anyway) - had to replay the first few minutes of the game due to it corrupting my save game through one of it's many crashes.

Got to the Ghost Hideout, every time I attempted to enter the game either crashed or kicked me back to the main menu before proceeding to crash the next time I attempted to resume my save.

Can't confirm if the green shadows issue was resolved, as I can't get into the part of the game that exhibited the problem.

I have requested a refund for RAGE and Skyrim from Steam.

Many thanks for your assistance guys.

Unfortunately, that did not resolve the problem either.

Cheers though :-)

Hi

I am appalled by the fact you even had the audacity to release this in the first place. In order to get the game to actual get to the point where I could 'see' the game world I've already had to upgrade drivers to a set that have prevented other games from working properly, spend an hour googling to find precisely what to put into a custom configuration file because you decided that we don't need a graphics option menu, and remove the 'base\videos' folder to stop it crashing at a black screen after the f**king annoying and terribly voice acted 'apophis' sequence, only to finally get to something rendered by the all singing all dancing reason for ID software to still exist that is ID Tech 5. This is pathetic:

http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/560/2011100700001s.jpg

So what am I meant to do now? At this point I'm considering contacting Steam to try and get my money back. I mean this is after waiting an extra month because you delayed it to 'polish it' (looks like it guys, more like polish each other off) and an addition period of insult because the American market is so much more important than the rest of the world.

So what next? Up until a few hours ago I was a big fan of both Bethseda and ID, for a very long time (I have original copies of everything from Doom 2 onwards, what with Doom only ever being shareware) - do I cancel Skyrim and write you both off as useless? That's what it's looking like at this stage.

Incidentally, I went outside the ark, got more of the AMAZING ID TECH FIVE graphics as per my above screenshot and then RAGE crashed again.

It is pathetic excuses for releases like this that is the reason people torrent games.

Regards

Your system is seriously [censored]@d up if thats what you see.... http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/560/2011100700001s.jpg I never saw anything that bad on both my Nvidia system and my ATI system...
