Random BSOD blue screen of death FNW 1.1.1.2711

Post » Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:41 am

I GOT IT!!!!!!! I GOT IT!!!!!!

at least for tonight.. its now 1:18 A.M. and i played since 21:00 without any crash or damn BOSD .. NOTTHING..and i dont know what exactly i did but here is all what i did.

1.i did a clean i install of newest nvidia drivers (used a driver cleaner pro in safe mode)
2. i took out my graphic card completely unscew the fan.. it was all good and i couldn't separate a passive fan from the GPU so i said to my self , dont be stupid there is nothing wrong with your card (the guy from the hardware store today told me that maybe just maybe the passive fan has separated a little bit from the GPU and its not cooling enough.. anyway .. i put basic all screws and return the card .. close it.
3. i took that TDR fix, the same one that didnt worked this afternoon with value of 20 and i execute the 60 version
4. i took that famos DLL fix that never worked and i copyed it to FNW folder
5. i run up the game and left all as it was detected by FIX and just turn off vertical sync.

AND THE GAME WORKS!!!!!!!! .. HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ... SO it was not overheating!!!!!!! or at least i dont think it was... duno to tell you people the truth.. im cleaning the Primm village

p.d. I really hope that i will be able to play it tomorrow and if i dont report means that it all works!!!!

THANK YOU ALL for suggestions and support

i had a fear that this might happen and
i think im cursed :poke:
i have never been able to play this game for more than 7 or 8 mins.. usualy got that stupid BSOD after 30 sec or 1 min at most.. but yesterday after i did all this above i was suddenly able to play for 4 damn hours without any kind of freezing or crash or BSOD.
Today the game died again :swear: aproximatly 30 sec with same [censored] symptoms.
i just dont know what to do more :banghead:

I'm having the same problems. My BSOD's are completely random. Nothing I can pin down as, OH! that is what's doing it. Dxdiag below. It would be great if someone responsible for making the game work could look into fixing this. I have nfc how to change my dxdiag like other's have suggested, nor do I think I should have to do anything to play an $60 on my computer.
I do hope they can find out what's causing these issues and give us a patch. I'd also like a concrete patch I can download, for some reason, I just don't trust Steam telling me it patched my game.

having the same problems, crashing to bluescreen and somteimes even completely out to "no signal" for monitor after playing 30-40 seconds outside the house where you wake up.
I tried a lot and nothing worked for me.
my system:
XP with SP3
Geforce GTX280
Q9450
all drivers updated (even sound).
nothing works for me....seems to be we all have to hope on a new patch.

My post from NMA:

First thing: Sorry for my english, i'm just a diqueck Wink

I've got the same problem with THE SAME VIDEO CARD (+2GB 667 RAM, ASRock 1333 and E2180@2GHz). I'm sure this is not overheating card and I even know a recipe for BSOD in New Vegas:

some move and shooting/jumping + clicking a TAB (or another pipboy key) = BSOD after 5-60 seconds of this combo.

Clicking the TAB can be changed for starting a conversation with NPC.

I see 4 possibilities:

- problem with Nvidia drivers
- Obsidian are the biggest bunglers in the world ({Beat me like a baby seal "cuz" I am STOOPID!} they are?), New Vegas doesn't like 8800GT, and we must wait for a patch
- New Vegas doesn't like a mess in the system/HDD*
- New Vegas doesn't like an Avira, K2T, viruses, or another applications

The Fallout 3 hasn't got this problem, Oblivion too. So I think this is not fault of Gamebryo. Another games work great on my PC, so this is not overheating or broken video card.

*So, can you say dear tindrli what happend after your format? No BSODs, or format doesn't help?

Once again: Sorry for my english Mad

Edit: My system: Windows XP SP3 PL. I will try to install 18X.xx drivers and just reinstall the game... :/

Edit2: Drivers 186.18 + reinstallation = bsod, bsod, bsod.

Pattex - you don't have exactly THE SAME PROBLEM. On my (and tindrli's too, probably) PC there's no "no signal" and you can check http://forums.techarena.in/video-games/1306712.htm#post4823662 and http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2010/10/fallout-new-vegas-fix-crash-freezing.html. In fact, I'm sure now, this a special "feature" of 8800GT and we probably can't do nothing (I'm still waiting for tindrli's answer about his formatting...) except waiting for a PATCH.

So, we can only cry and wait for a patch or lucky accident.

Did you try to format your PC? Tindrli did, but he doesn't answer and I don't want to waste a time for something what won't (possibly) help :/

somehow that is what I am at....hoping for another patch. you know, another thing is: I played fallout 3 all the way throzgh without having problems (even after installing all the nice mods...). so why is FNW having these problems??? fior me it all comes down to: simply no sober programming..... I havent formated my PC (you mean completely setting it up new?? or just defrag the hard disk?)

wow.....tough stuff! thing is: I dont wanna do this because my system ran perfectly before. mafia 2, metro 2033...name any brand new game, they all worked great!! so I would prefer waiting for a patch if they ever..... in the meantime I start playing f3 again....lol. so lemme now when you hear back from the other guy...maybe it helped...

No BSoDs after 4 hours of playing.

There is a problem with nvidia drivers. It's in relation to nvlddmkm.dll causing a ring 1 crash, feel free to google that dll, and try the fixes listed everywhere.

In fact, I don't what to change anything more. If the game is working, I won't mess with it.

But now I have another problem - the corrupted save files after finishing "Come, fly with me". Wooohooo!

if you have the Aero theme enabled (if you have win7 that is), rightclick falloutNV.exe, go to properties, compatibility, and check "disable desktop composition"

also, for anyone experiencing bsod's, download "bluescreenview" (google), it reads the minidump files the bsod's create, and shows useful info about which modules/files are causing the bsod, then google these faulting modules along with the error and you should find solutions

and having a clean eventvwr.exe will also rule out any other files causing instability

Mine blue-screens after I exit the game, quite consistently. But at least it's AFTER I end playing.

Win XP, nVidia 2XX.

I installed BlueScreenView and it seems that my BSOD is related to my Creative Audigy 4 soundcard. I've updated the drivers and got quite a bit of play w/o BSOD today, however it still happens. The error message is UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. I google searched fixes for it, but it seems it's generally thought of as faulty hardware or overclocking your CPU. I really can't afford another soundcard right now. :brokencomputer:

Hi everyone, i have had BSOD over 6 times now trying many different things. one thing i have noticed every time it happens is there is no error report that pops up saying your computer has been restarted to prevent potential damage from a blue screen of death. at 10pm i updated my 8600 gt nvidia graphics card and to no avail i crashed with was the 6th time. i am lost on what to do and would like some assistance to stop this because my computer for sure can run this game on a p4 3.60 ghz dual core with 2 gigs of ram. and nether get taxed peek usage of my ram has been about 75% and cpu moved from 50% to peeking 85% while loading certain things. if anyone could add some helpful hints to me i would love it becouse i enjoy everything about FNV.

Same problem, almost same comp specs. quad core. 2.4 ghz processor. 2 gigs ram. Win XP. nvidia geforce 8600. had about 14 hrs of gameplay without a problem, then it started happening yesterday. BSOD and reboot when i went into VATS. Not every time i go into VATS, but thats the only situation where ive seen it crash.

Windows error report after restart says "your comp just kinda died a minute there. we dont really know what the heck happened, but you could probably start uninstalling everything on your computer one at a time to see if that fixes it..." Thanks. That helps.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Something changed, either you did it, or you allowed Microsoft to do whatever it wanted, and it has done so, probably with no restore position you can go back to. The best reason to turn that automatic crap off is to be able to choose when you update, and do so on a schedule, after creating a restore point.

A BSOD is a controlled process, and there is a named error report during its functioning. Once again, it is a dumb idea to allow the automatic restart so that leaves you without having note of what the particular error message is. System failures from hardware problems happen behind Windows' back, so to speak, so it can't interrupt with a blue screen and an error message.

This next remark is not particularly closely connected to system stability. A PC that has a quad core for its CPU shouldn't have a four year old (almost four) video card as weak as an 8600 in it. That is a serious mismatch. An 8600 goes with either a single core or dual core processor, not with a quad.

Use my guide but get old drivers like the 184.xx or one of the 18x.xx somethings I will have to ask around but for the 8/9 series those where the best drivers anything after that with the closer launch of fermi caused those cards including the 200 series to have issues with games like FO3.
