Random Freezes while in the world.

I'm getting this. Freezing for 5 seconds or more, sometimes twice in a row, only in exteriors. It happens about once every minute when running through new areas.

Raptor 150 gig 10,000 rpm 16mb cache (game is on this drive)

I mean, I know Skryim is a pretty cold province but I didn't expect the world to freeze over so much.

Ok, so, jumping on the bandwagon too...

Same as above, in short, though mine seems somewhat more serious. Same common trigger as above, but mine always and invariably results a lockup forcing hard restart. My only observation is that my GPUs seem to kick out before anything else; my monitors search for signal while still giving dynamic game sound for about ten seconds, then total lockup. On higher settings, it's escalated to the point at which it happens almost instantly. On lowest possible, i can get a minute or two of gameplay before she goes under. Have a CPU/GPU/ram/HD monitor running @ all times, logging, with nothing out or the normal until it crashes. It seems to be my HDD that gives first, according to the timestamps.....

If it helps, i can submit both those hardware monitor logs, and a dxdiag, should someone want them.

2x(2xiCore5@3.3)
2x(2x ATI 6950@2g)in CF
2x4g ram, cluster
Win 7 64
Running dual monitors in sattelite through primary card.
RealTekHD optical sound package

And, to make things worse, Steams forums are Le Hacked, so no help there either.

bethesda, i love you. Pre ordered, pre loaded, took the day off work an' errtang. Plz dont Fcuk this up....

I did have it freeze once in an interior. It was that place we saw in the demo videos with the golden claw. Forget the name of the place. It's annoying, but so far my freezes aren't as bad as some seem to be getting.

I'm back at it. Went to see a movie. FYI - Tower Heist is just okay.

Things I've tried:
44.1khz sound fix
switching sound device entirely
unofficial patch
various graphics changes: vsync on/off, FSAA on/off, tree shaders at 1 and 0 in cfg, a few different resolutions

On the docket:
"save" fix
temperature watch
disabling overclocks

I'll also be keeping an eye on my CPU load.

I'll report back when if anything changes.

Been going for half an hour. No freezes. Pumped my fan up, temp is at a steady 59C. I also disabled the saves.

I'll report back after another 30.

Ok first my english svcks. Second i have the same issue.

I've tried everything... changed the whole ini(removed shadowns, grass etcs), the hardware aceletation, sound change, high settings, low settings.

Well frozen for 3-7 s in outdoors, sound keep goin just the image frozen. Never crashed.

Looks like a rendering issue, after all we have many different specs with the same problem.

I hope bethesda do something fast, i managed to get 4 days off to play this game.

They need fix this topic.

I've the same freezing issue like the rest, but I can't even pass through the intro because the animation is jammed or something and I don't know what to do here. I finished the chargen and follow the guard, but then the control keys doesn't respond. :banghead:

My PC

Windows7 Home 64-bit
Intel Quad 2 Core 2,5 GHz
8 Gb RAM
Nvidia 9400GT in SLI-mode
1920x1080 16:9 widescreen
AC97 Realtek 5.1
Nvidia 280.26

I can move the HUD with the mouse, but every playing controls is frozen except for the players status.

Also awaiting some kind of fix or workaround for this issue - no CTDs, no bluescreens, no shutdowns, but 3 second pauses (or thereabouts) quite frequently in exteriors.

Tried everything short of removing my hardware overclocks (which I can safely rule out based on this thread), with no improvement. Pretty sure temps aren't the issue either.

Well... I've been playing for an hour without incident. Disabling the "save every 15 minutes" thing has worked for me so far. I'll report back if something changes.

@Gweeds

Have you been playing for 1 hour outdoors or in a dungeon?

Both. Outdoors, in dungeons, in various cities.

So far so good, for me at least.

I had freezes and crashes (I still do) but here's something that works for me.
Have another application open in the background (such as wordpad). If the game freezes, you can alt-tab to the other application and close Skyrim with the program manager. It doesn't seem to work for me unless I have something open, but I haven't had to restart my computer again.

I'm having the same problem and it's crazy annoying.

My only difference is it happens in combat (though it will still occasionally happen outside of combat). I can barely play while in combat. Most of the time I'm doing great, probably 40fps+. Even in between the freezes in combat I'm getting great fps. I've tried the "save fix" and the "unofficial patch".

My specs:

Windows 7 (64 bit)
AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHZ
4GB Ram
GTX 240

Having the same issue only happens outside in the open world and is pretty random. I've tried using Low through Ultra, save fix, unoffical patch, etc.

System:

Athlon II X2 250 3.0Ghz
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 dual-channel ram
GTX 550 Ti FPB 1GB
Win XP
