Rangers

I always forget to use potions in combat ;) Poisons too! I'm terrible when it comes to buffs. Frost trolls are, without a doubt, a pain in the lower abdomen
I always buy my paralysis poisons :) . Frost trolls do svck though, especially when your climbing 7000 steps.

My rangers tend to use two-handed swords because I like the way swords look sheathed on the back rather than flopping around to the side, and it’s easier for me to switch to sword and blocking without going into a menu with a two-handed sword since nothing automatically pops into the off hand. Also if memory serves, Anduril was not a dagger.

Alchemy and Sneak are musts for me along with clothes and non-metallic light armor. No horses since I’d rather sneak up on or sneak past those sabre cats. Faendal and Jenassa are good ranger followers. Aura Whisper could make a good stand-in for putting an ear to the ground. I like the Mourner’s Clothes (for male rangers) with the black Fine Boots along with an Adept hood. That’s not a good look for snowy areas, however. I still don’t have any ideas for snow camo.

For housing I say keep it minimal. A ranger goes ranging, or at least mine do. A safe container in a friend’s house (for alchemy ingredients) is all that’s really necessary. The Alchemist’s Shack or Anise’s Cabin would work for characters who avoid settlements. I suppose any character could become a collector, but the lack of interest in accumulating things is something I’ve enjoyed. I had one guy who traveled with a supply of salt and blue mountain flowers in case he found something he could cook or use for a health potion. He didn’t pick up anything else he couldn’t sell or use pretty much right away. It was liberating.

For magic if you’re thinking of runes, also consider cloaks. I’d go for frost to cut down on those two-handed orc power attacks. I’d train in Destruction rather than trying to build the skill by throwing spells around, since every enemy should get some arrows. I personally find Alteration far too annoying, so I avoid it.

But to address the most important question: dark colored short beard.

I've never once purchased a potion :) The Frost Troll on the way up to HH is a bugger! First time I played through, he jumped out of no where and I was like "The hell was that! Oh wait... I...", and I was dead before I knew what had even happened.

Anduril was something I planned on doing later. Starting off with a dagger and small sword, then moving to 2-H a way into the game. As for the clothes and housing ideas: Great! I'm always worried about leaving my stuff in houses I don't own. I'm worried that 10 days might occur too quickly and i'll still be hunting. Next thing you know, no more items left :(

Dark coloured short beard it is!

Now.... for anyone who has read the thread this far... Which race should I play? Prefer it I played a 'human' race, but would consider valid suggestions.
