Reactions when friends or others watch you play

I admit I do try not to do any "evil" quest while they watch me play. Just so I won't get any wtf looks.

My brothers and sisters like to watch me play skyrim. I tried to teach them how to play sometimes but for some reason moving and looking is so hard for them  .

Not many people understand the concept of first person games. I remember when I was little and Metal of Honor was my first FPS game. I was wondering where the character I played as was because I thought the game would be third person and I never played first person before and I thought it was impossible to move and look around at the same time. A lot has changed from that day. I'm a pro. :disguise:

Wow..I guess I am in the vast minoroity here. My GF asks to me to play Skyrim just so she can watch. She has all kinds of reactions based on wht my char is doing.
She seems endlessly entertained by my follower. I get her involved and ask her to make the choiecs for my char....what to say, where to go...etc.

Don't let that girl get away! She sounds like a keeper.

It depends.... Usually when people come over at my house, I shut it down and put music on instead.
If the visitor(s) knows the drill and are also into RPGs, they ask a question every now and then, about what I′m about to do or have I done a certain thing yet.
Mostly they comment my playing with laughter :D

The more people are into it around you (Or anything else, for that matter), the merrier it′ll be for all of you^^

Surprisingly though my sisters played better than my brothers. At least they knew where to go.

"Oh my god! Is that a loincloth?!" - Mom
Let's just say some mod made a bandit's skirt only fur armor... his loincloth. Yeah. I had to show it to her because of how random that was.

"What is that?" - 90% of all my nephew's reactions...

"It's real life!" - my dad and... him quoting a movie...

Every other comment from my mom involves how real the game looks to her.

Audience?

(yes, a time or two, I've called someone over to show off some particularly nice landscape. But otherwise.... my computer & console are in their own office/workroom. There's no wandering traffic, or people sitting around.)

While I was playing on my character "Ke'vas"

Me: (reacting to game) Oh Sh*t
My younger brother: Your character will make it
Me: How come?
Brother: Because it's "Ke'vas Problemas"

^He was making an awful pun about the expression "Nemas Problemas" (No Problems), I'm not sure if Americans say it, but it's rather usual here in Sweden.

Anyways, I avoid having people watch me while I play. My brother just distracts me and make annoying comments and my dad just thinks all games are stupid. Although he tells everyone that "video games have taught me how to pilot a plane" (he owns a plane that we fly with sometimes). Man's been hitting the skooma I say...

Good thread btw :D

Quotes; '' lol , owned ′′ (My most of my friends, referring to enemy dying in a funny way)
'' Move that block over there... Turn that lever there... and then... '' (One of my friends is a puzzle - sensei and I hate puzzles. Tetris was ok though ages ago)
'' .... (One of my friends is just taking notes on a paper about stats, exp, skills and sometimes using even a calculator to maximize the experience / training potential.... Though , Skyrim is too easy for that which is kinda sad) ...''
'' Sick baztard! '' ( Drunken friend commenting for many of my actions)

same here he goaded me into letting him make a character (named asmeth) and he makes fun of mine (Aragorn, arathorn, legolas, haldir) for being lotr characters and for making "one ring to rule them all" on my characters (it's a ring that doubles all skills but drains your health by 10 a minute)

Either they get bored because Skyrim does seem more "passive" when compared to more well-known games like Call of Duty or Counter-Strike or whatever... or they'd be like DUDE TAKE OFF THAT FEMALE BANDIT'S CLOTHES SO WE CAN SEE THEM NEKKID!!!

My dad made similar comments years ago. He wasn't a gamer, but he would game with me on the intellivision way back when you were either the blue team or the red team. So he at least had some appreciation for how far gaming has come.

Skyrim just isn't one of those games where it's entertaining to watch other people play it in my opinion.

Just other day, I fought Odahviing on my assassin, part when you have to capture him. I was really showing off with Shadow Warrior perk, jumping around, backstabbing him with just one Iron dagger in mage clothes and not using magic at all. Ofcourse I was dying a lot and laughing hard and both roomie and my friend were like; -_-; what a noob.
I kept dying and dying, so I got bored of it eventually and just captured him in a second. So then he took me to Alduin's place, and then two dragons appear, you can fight them 1 by 1 or pull first one to other + mobs. So I went with full force and my main equipment, used SW perk properly and killed them all with two HP pots.
So then roomie and friend say; "Wow, what a stupid game, having rough time with one dragon, then you run into two of them with mobs and just kill them. Balance sux big time. I would never play it."
Later on, I take on Alduin easily aswell (Yes, i was playing on Adept, I admit it), and they're like; "Wtf, main boss and you take him down in one minute? [censored] this game sux."

I suppose I make games look bad when I play it in front of people... Am usually 100% focused when playing solo, giving my best, but in front of others I just lol around and do stupid things. I guess I am not fun to watch while playing :lmao:

I'm a girl and I like games. Played games since I was 6. First video game was Super Mario 64. Never in my town could I find anyone who liked video games as much as I did. It svcks I want a gaming boyfriend.
Haha even there's no girl in my town who loves games, I think. ;p
By the way my first game is Nintendo's Bomberman when I was around 4.

I don't like it when people watch me play because I RP pretty hard and do some nerdy stuff to enhance my immersion. I don't want to have to explain why my character does "pointless" (from a pure gameplay perspective) stuff like paying respects in the Temple of Talos, or leaving offerings at shrines, hiding dead bodies, or passing up loot.

Sometimes I will call my husband over to see if something really cool is happening. Like when Sisqi was traveling near Rorikstad when a named dragon appeared- I think it was Nahagliiv- and I swear the dragon used Animal Allegiance shout. ALL THE ANIMALS in the plains started attacking me. I had giants, mammoths, sabrecats, deer, wolves... it was insane. The compass was literally full of red dots. So yeah, my husband watched me fight that one.

When my husband was playing his character, I loved watching him though. It was always fun to see the hijinks he got up to, and to see his playstyle (destro mage).

My girlfriend likes the kill cams and the more exciting stuff. Giants, dragons etc. She's a LORT/Fantasy fan and thinks [censored] like that is cool.

It can be so fun to play Skryim with friends, if only because the weirdest crap happens in the game sometimes. If you have a witness, you know you didn't just imagine things like backwards levitating travelling bards on the road in the middle of nowhere..

Or Frost Dragons falling from the sky, crashing hard into the College courtyard, pretending to be dead until you get close enough to them to be unexpectedly torn to shreds..
