Red Dead Redemption #15

Yeah, I could understand John being mean to him if we were given a reason, John's far from perfect, but they're seemed to be no explaination other than 'he was lazy', which seems a bit harsh. Uncle sounded really upset at some of the things John said, like when he said 'I really did try my best to take care of the farm', and John was like 'your best is everyone else's worse'. It just seemed out of character for John, especially seeing as this was at the same time when he was laughing and joking with Abi and Jack.

Edit: according to the wiki he's no relation, Uncle is just his nickname

yeah that part I disliked alot, atleast he tried, he could have just told John to piss off.

he says that ingame, that he dosent even know if he is Johns uncle, it was just who he grew up with and that was what he was called.

Spoiler
Yeah i felt guilty when he died. But he did seem a bit lazy, he let the crows get onto the grain silo and he generally let the ranch fall into disrepair.

I would of liked more background on who he was, if john is the son of a scot, why is his uncle not scot. Or if its his mum's side, why didnt he mention something about the past? There could have been home missions to cover this.

If you listen to the conversation, that Jack and John have together on the first or second mission together, Uncle isn't really John's actual uncle; or related to him at all. It's just a name give to "Uncle" by previous people, because of his age. When John met Uncle years previous, that's what people called him.

I was just about to say that. :P

But, yeah. I remember hearing that on like the first mission with Jack on Act 4.

Edit: Dr. Strangelove ninja'd me.

I remember them saying hes of no relation, but i understood it as John just believed he wasnt family because he hates him so much, like he doesnt want to be related to him.

He could just have been a "friend" of Johns mum i guess. Alas we will never know.

Hmm, I don't remember that part, and I usually pay attention to all the dialogue, I even have subtitles on so I don't miss any.

Yeah, Uncle's just some lazy drunk that John came across either during his times with Dutch and the gang, or later on when he had tried going straight.

And please, no DLC in prequel fashion. :yuck:

And anyone else realized, that the mini-map on RDR is large than GTA IV? Observation I guess.

I remember my first multiplayer game. I couldn't get out of MacFarlane Ranch without being gunned down by this other posse. Now I tend to shoot first, ask questions later. Evolution of the RDR player I suppose.

The RDD Multiplayer food chain: Posses who decide to [censored] about being killed, then reach full size and just kill people > Posse Leaders>Posse Members>People who aren't in a Posse>People who are playing Multiplayer for the first time.

You missed out the top one, I will edit it in.
@Revolutionfilms dont worry as soon as you get rid of the donky, then the anorexic horse, I wont kill your mount... As often anyway. You will understand when you play that you just laugh at the slow mounts, then feel compeled to kill them and laugh at the reaction. Oh and it could be worse, if I see a zebra donkey I will kill that instead, zebra donkeys make me lol.

I went online for the first time today, I spent an hour trying to find other people and levelling up at the fort before I discovered there had been a connection failure and I was all on my own. That sorted, I'm surprisingly good at it, winning my first match against more experienced foes. Must be all that time I spent playing multiplayer in Read Dead Revolver.

Shame so far I haven't been able to get people to do any more than shoot at me, everyone seems to just treat it as a free for all.

I did! I loved that game. More atmospheric and arcadey, but limited by the tech at the time.

God, I was warned that the horse controls would piss me off. I think I have the general feel down, but is there a way to maintain my speed? If I'm at my horses top speed, I hold X down, but he'll eventually slow down a bit. Off roads I can't maintain my speed at all. Is there a way to consistently keep my speed?

I liked the whole spaghetti western theme they had. The music was far better than the new one as well. More Moricone-esque.

Tap x to go as fast as possible, hold it to rebuild stamina when it runs out.

Am I the only person here who's terrible at liar's dice? The tutorial makes no sense to me at all.

They are fine once you get use to them.Think of it this way, every time you hit the spur button its a different gear.Every time you hit spur its gets a quick jolt but slows down a little.you can just hold down spur to maintain a speed.Off roading slows you down though. There is more resistance so you can't go as fast.

No kidding...I gave up half way through because I was side tracked by bigger and better things. I'll probably try again later.

That was sort of my question, I just asked badly. When I hold down x, my horse slows down some. It maintains max speed for about 5 seconds, and then starts slowing down a bit.

Don't think I have ever noticed that where it slows down after a long time. :(

I'm pretty sure he is not his real uncle, it said he was an Uncle to all the gang, like close with them i guess.

Edit: Apparently I missed out on the whole non relation arguement

It's not that it slows down, it just keeps to the pace you're holding it at currently... or at least it should.

I think my friend has had problems like your saying with his copy, but I'm not positive.

So, should I go for 100%? I have like 85% complete(with the storyline and 17 strangers missions done, I'm working on the last stranger mission) but I still have to do a [censored]load of stuff, challenges, a bunch of outfits, mini-games, etc.
