is 11-11-11 release date a bad spot?

No, it's a great date. Screw those other games.

The only thing wrong with the release date is the fact that I dont have the game in my hands today...

It's not a contest when the titles released are different genres.

MW3 is a POS. Got BF3 and it's "ok". Skyrim will be epic and Saints Row 3rd a good follow-up on the 15th.

Purchased Dark Souls. I can borrow Batman with ease for now. Will be getting Skyrim, then Saints Row 3... am interested in Zelda but don't have a Wii so i'm going to wait and see on that one.

Only other games I see being worth a damn are The Old Republic (December)

Slightly OT, but I suspect that SWOR is going to be a real let down. Bioware have adopted a less is more strategy of late and I do not expect it will hold up to the single player kotor games. I hope I am proved wrong.

I believe 11/11/11 is a good release date, they annouce Skyrim a year in advance, and with 2 million pre-orders on console's alone in the U.S. I believe no worries, Gamers will get the game they want no matter what, causal gamers will only buy CoD:MW3 and not even think about Skyrim, while some will get both.
I know big shock isn't it. Same goes with the other games as well. So it is a fine and good release date.

I bought Batman and UC3 on release date and am done with both. There's time.

As a person with a job, personally I like the Friday release date. Means I only had to take one day off.

I would agree with the point that game release schedules are needlessly bunched up. The gaming industry doesn't seem to have grasped the lesson that the movie industry learned 36 years ago when 'Jaws' was released to theaters in the middle of the summer and broke all box-office records.

Welcome to every Fall/Winter game season of the past decade. People have been complaining about the glut of good/major titles released in Nov/Dec for years. The industry is well aware of the issue, and they still continue to schedule releases for that period. I can only assume that they're ok with the competition. :shrug;

(As for the other stuff.... I guess it all depends on the people you hang out with. My regular weekly tabletop gaming group canceled this Saturday's session - most of us are getting Skyrim, and would rather use the time to play that.)

Bethesda have had 11.11.11 down for release longer then most of the games you mentioned... How is it a terrible release date, 11.11.11 is never going to happen again, i think its fitting for Skyrim.

Actually there was an 11 theme from the start.

Release date announced on 11 December, 11 months before the release date of 11/11/11

Well IMO if they rather play MW3 or BF over TES, I say they have no business playing a TES game...

Also Saints Row is horrid, i don't understand why anyone likes it or how it made it past one game. The controls are clunky, the physics are unrealistic and the graphics are horrible.

There's other games besides Skyrim that are actually worth buying? News to me.
I would agree with you normally...

But Saints Row 3 seems like a really fun game, its like GTA with lots of humor and exaggerated everything.

And Im having a blast with the character creator lol :P

Ha, that glorified GTA knockoff doesn't tempt me in the slightest. They can both come at me when they have 1st person game play and not a moment sooner.

Played the single player of Arkham City, did all the side missions and riddles, etc.. I would've started the challenge rooms and New Game+ mode, but Battlefield 3 came out.

Played Battlefield 3 multiplayer for two weeks, now Skyrim is coming out. That'll take my attention from BF3.

Next week Saint's Row The Third and Assassin's Creed: Revelations come out. SR3 is a game I'm playing through with my friend co-op, and since I expect Skyrim will still be keeping me busy as well, that means AssRev is the game that wil be put on the back burner, along with Rage and Dark Souls.

Yes, this fall is crowded with AAA titles, but Skyrim's at the top of the list. Battlefield, Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed--these are games that come out each year. An Elder Scrolls game, on the other hand, is an EVENT.

I don't just buy every game that comes out I cannot afford to, the other games on that list are decent, Batman especially is looking good, but Skyrim will offer me hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours of gameplay for the same price, or £5 less than Modern Wankfare 3. It is my choice over all the others. Perhaps your friends have different preferences when it comes to genre. While Uncharted 3 gtes good reviews and no doubt has a great story I aint forking out for a game thats gonna be over in half a day.
U3's story is actually worse than the 100st generic Indiana Jones-wannabe movie. Fun to watch though. Lot of over-the-top action.

The game will be released on a great date. I hate BF3, MW3, and UC3 so with AC already being released in October, it leaves Skyrim a great spot in November.
AC comes out at 15 november?

But think about the TIME it takes to play them. Now your making a player choose what they really want. The casual gamer picking up skyrim is where the money is.

kelek

See here is where I become a bit of a quandary. I'm a casual gamer who is a hardcoe TES fan. So, all other games can get stuffed...it's Skyrim and only Skyrim for me. The rest are just games I might like to play sometime. Skyrim is the only game which I "MUST" play. Am I alone in this? Hands?
