You mean Tom, not Dovahkiin, because he is dropping that ASAP.

It's really not that hard. The kid just has to go by his middle name. I know plenty of people who never use their first names at all.

No more than your burchering of the English language. There are so many kids around with weird names nowadays that I doubt it will make much of a impact.

Except Dovahkiin doesn't mean anything because it is a made up language in a video game :P

Personally, I feel ashamed for the parents and sorry for the child. They've obviously forgotten how cruel other children can be when something about you is different. I can only imagine what the kid would go through if anyone ever found out where his name actually comes from.

But it's up to them I guess, and he can always have his name changed later.

Balls. Kids will tease you for whatever reason. My name has Hebrew origins - a completely legitimate name, but that didn't stop me from having the micky taken out of me. Same goes for my good friend Sam, except it was the way he walked that got the bullies' attention. Unless they are geeks themselves, they won't get the reference unless the kid tells them; and kids will find anything a worthy target, no matter what your name is.

I'd rather be called Dovahkiin than Richard, that's for sure.

Oh hey! I saw what you did there >.>

The fact it's a weird name is one thing, the fact that no one will be able to pronounce it is another.

Few people can pronounce my name at first either. I don't take that as an insult at all - I'd much rather have a name that sets me out from the rest (and it's not like mispronouncing Dovahkiin can go really wrong - how many ways do you think there are of pronouncing it?) than being a Plain Jane or Joe Blow.

to all of the people who believe your child should have a common name because "other kids are going to make fun of them".. youre all losers.

that being said.. choosing your childs name out of a video game which happens to have a prize associated with it is total fail.. and dovakiin is a terrible name for someone in the real world to have.
