Ride a dragon, seriously?

Post » Tue Jan 22, 2013 9:39 pm

Could someone please link me where it says dragon riding or something that shows you can free roam or anything of the ilk?

There isn't anything, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something that gets implemented to not svck. It's terrible the way it is now. The fact that that didn't tell it was it was terrible ahead of time doesn't change the fact that it's terrible. I don't understand why everybody wants so badly to give Beth a pass on this. Hold developers to a higher standard.

Whenever Bethesda adds something its generic. Never expect something amazing because your going to get it in a generic form once its stable on consoles they move on. The story and world is the only thing they focus on. They don't improve or expand it. If your on a pc though modders will have you flying and possibly fighting on a dragon by the end of Feb.

I thought the crossbows added in DG and the elemental bolts were fantastic. It's become on of my favorite weapons.

The crossbows are pretty good but not fantastic, it's a shame Bethesda didn't bother to take the time to make them actually penetrate the victims. Most of the time the bolts float or just the tip is stuck in I just don't consider floating bolts a fantastic job. Bethesda got them working and then gave up.

Are you honestly so egotistical that you think everyone should feel exactly like you do about something like this?

I guess so, since it's really bloody unrealistic to expect anything besides a buggy piece of [censored] for free-roam dragonriding if they ever got it.

Firstly I know I was being sarcastic

Secondly. Beth had previously said that they cannot implement true dragon riding due to hardware issues ( mainly with consoles). I for one was expecting it to be much worse... like a 'level' where you are on a dragons back that is not even re-playable, or have this be the way to travel to Solstheim or something along those lines. My only complaint is that the aiming seems to be a bit off for shouts and magic.

Dragon riding? Pfffh, I bought this DLC for Solstheim. Either way, it's common sense that Dragon riding isn't going to be the dream come true smooth flying feature. This is Bethesda we're talking about. And I can understand their difficulties with implementing such a feature.

The trailer showed the player climbing onto the back of a dragon, and a dragon in the air. They did not advertise it as a major feature, nor did beth ever promise it would be free-roam
plus, a PS3/Xbox would crap itself and die if free-roam was implemented

So would most PC's for that matter.

To be fair they sure didn't make an attempt of disregarding that thought. It's like a bad trailer that makes a sappy drama seem like an action movie.

Would it? There is a mod that allows the player to change into a dragon and fly like one and it runs smooth like a train. If the game allows me to smoothly soar over mountains and forests, fighting other dragons in the air and make it from Whiterun to Riften in a manner of minutes as a dragon with decent FPS, I doubt that it would be all that different while sitting on a dragon. And my PC, while not bad, is definitely not a top of the line that can handle everything smoothly.

The consoles wouldn't be able to handle free-roam dragon riding, but I doubt the PC will have much of a problem with it, if you have a somewhat decent one.

And so it begins.

Anyways you should not be buying this DLC just for Dragonriding. Dragonriding in terms of free roaming, going wherever you want could not be implemented on the consoles due to technical limitations. On PC however the animations and scripts will allow for an amazing mod.

Why not buy just for dragon riding if that's what he likes? I believe we could free roam with it,even on console. More than what we are given anyway. I just don't think they could be arsed doing a control system for it. But dragon riding is not very good in my opinion. I would prefer older things making a return.
