Ride a dragon, seriously?

Post » Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:18 pm

Disappointing... this the word.
Is a worked and spectacular dlc (design of spaces with ambiance, soundtrack...) but "ride a dragon", what it is?
Dragonborn=buy to ride a dragon.
I can't believe this... very dissapointing.

Greetings.

And so it begins.

Anyways you should not be buying this DLC just for Dragonriding. Dragonriding in terms of free roaming, going wherever you want could not be implemented on the consoles due to technical limitations. On PC however the animations and scripts will allow for an amazing mod.

And why sell it as riding a dragon? Misleading?

And in consoles i understand.

I feel "cheated". This is my opinion (very important)

Because they never sold it as "RIDE A DRAGON".
Oh sure they had shots of it and listed it.

However the DLC was more "FIGHT THE FIRST DRAGONBORN, NOSTALGIA"
I for one cant wait to get a mod for it.

You can argue that those shots in the trailer were a little bit misleading.

They said tame dragons and showed a screenshot of riding a dragon. Nothing they said or showed implied free-roam. It's your own fault you expected it.

And I can't for the life of me understand why anybody truly wanted it.

I can't agree more, I honestly didn't know what people were expecting.

You can't understand why someone might want to dive bomb giants with a Dragon?

Don't get me wrong. I don't care at all. But that statement was a little weird.

Personally I think the "Dragon Aspect" shout was more underwhelming than the actual dragon riding thing.

Seriously? You really can't understand that? I don't think your really that dense. It's pretty obvious why people want to do it. Even so I really don't feel they should have put it in unless they were going to allow free riding. It's rather pointless as it is now and only leads to people who do want it being ticked off that it is a half-ass version of dragon riding. With this sort of thing it has to be all or nothing. Nobody is happy with it as it is now. The only use I've found for it is to get on the dragon and then fast travel and pretend it flew me to my destination the same way I would do with the wagons. Besides that they are rather pointless and I'd personally rather just kill them and be done with it.

Yeah... seriously just don't ride a dragon if you think it's that stupid. Not everything in my opinion needs to be lore friendly, that's why I install ridiculous mods. They aren't telling you to buy Dragonborn to ride a Dragon it's more or less for new content, more fun and more places to explore.

...they never markted it as a "dragon riding centered" dlc
dragon riding is just a little thing added into it
you can craft spiders, but its not a "spider crafting centered" dlc either
if you got that feeling from a little line about riding dragons in a text promo and a 2 second highlight in the trailer... then its on you

No, I don't understand why people really wanted it. What the hell do you play Skyrim for, that you should actually desire this feature to the extent that you'd be legitimately disappointed that it's not added?

They don't say much of anything so people can't say that they lied and it still happens. I for one got what I expected ( a little more actually) from dragon riding and thought it was ok

Are you honestly so egotistical that you think everyone should feel exactly like you do about something like this? I didn't really care either way but everyone likes different things. Isn't that the beauty of a Bethesda game, the ability to do so many things and play your charcter so many different ways?

Obviously some people want to ride the dragons since it has been requested since day one. There have been threads about it since the game came out and it was included in the mods the Developers themselves made during the Game Jam week where they were given a week to come up with a mod of their own. Quite a few of those mods have already made their way into the game so some people have been hoping the Dragon Mount would also make it. Unfortunately for them it only sort of made it.

He's not disappointed that it's not added, he's disappointed that it was advertised as a feature, but was implemented so terribly. If it hadn't been advertised as a feature added by the DLC, he wouldn't be disappointed.

It's not something I would ever really use, but I fully understand where the OP is coming from. Did you honestly watch the trailer an expect dragon riding to be implemented as it is? It's completely pointless and stupid. Like, there is literally no reason at all to do it, it just makes you way less effective. It's terrible. I don't think it's unreasonable for people to be disappointed in it. To say "if you're disappointed, it's on you" really shows a tremendous lack of understanding of just, like... being human.

Whenever Bethesda adds something its generic. Never expect something amazing because your going to get it in a generic form once its stable on consoles they move on. The story and world is the only thing they focus on. They don't improve or expand it. If your on a pc though modders will have you flying and possibly fighting on a dragon by the end of Feb.

the whole idea of riding dragons was 'meh' to me, so i never cared

what had me excited was when it seemed like there were going to be spears, but then there werent. me and my friends were super psyched to get dragon born, then we were 50% less enthused when we found out there aren't spears in the context that we thought.
