Just go to Elderscrolls.com to see a tribute from Bethesda to Adam, it seriously brought me to tears and this is a guy who I have heard of and repsect but never had the privaledge to meet personally! I remember in one of the preview tour videos of Skyrim pre-release he was shown and pvssyd, and there was alot of his amazing concept art spread across the walls, infact there was alot of chat in these forums about his concept art and what was what, people were so excited by his gift and the impending release of his last complete project! Little did I know that this amazing and talented man was even then suffering from a serious illness!

What a huge loss not only to Bethesda, and the Gaming Industry, but also to the greater community as all reports from friends and colleagues suggest he was an amazing person too, full of life, humor and always racing with new ideas! I don't think people like Adam come along very often, and his creativity, his smile, his good humor, and his obvious and fantastic talent will never totally be replaced, lets hope his visions live on in future Bethesda titles and TES 6!

Every time I load up Skyrim or FO3 I will think of you Adam, every time I sit and stare in wonder at a fantastic sunset, vista, or splendid architecture, I will think of you and how you have had a hand in it! I Dedicate my 200 hours in Skyrim so far and 300+ hours in FO3 to your memory, may you continue your creativity drawing in the heavens with the clouds as your canvas and making the angels blush with your good humor! May your Memory will live on! I will sink a few Meads for you in my next adventure!

RIP. (TES fan going back to Arena in 94)

In World of Warcraft, wasn't there some kind of monument dedicated to a staff member who passed away during development?

That would be a nice tribute for Adam, for some kind of in-game dedication in a future Skyrim dlc or expansion.

Maybe God wanted him to redesign Heaven.

He would do a good job I am sure, humor and a fantastic mind for design, Heaven is a better place for having him up there! May the clouds be his canvas! People like Adam don't deserve to leave us, may Cancer find a cure and may countless fantastic people like Adam be saved! Every time I fire up FO3 or Skyrim I can see his amazing concept art made to reality! RIP again, I am sure Bethesda are in mourning but lets make the next project (TES 6?) a fantastic tribute to a remarkable and talented man! Lets hope the flavor of future Bethesda releases are kept with Adam in mind, I hope his work has rubbed off on the next Concept Artist to grace Bethesda's Studio, those are some pretty big shoes to fill !

Visual Design is one of the outstanding things that have always set Bethesda products apart from the rest of the pack. As a fan of the "quirky, yet hauntingly beautiful" aesthetic, I salute Adam and his work.

Hmm.
Now to ponder on whether I should stop smoking or not.. :ermm:
Just remember that you are going to die anyway, and that those extra years you've earned will probably be spent in diapers.
If smoking makes you happy, then continue!
People should live their lives and not be slaves to them.
Of course, that doesn't mean that you should go to other extreme and waste your life on smoking, drinking, drugs, partying and similar under the excuse that 'they are just living their life'.
One should find a nice balance.

As a cancer survivor I can tell you absolutly YES!!!! You will be middle aged before you know it and the difference can be a healthy middle aged who can enjoy his family and do things or a dying a slow, painful death middle age. I did not smoke and I am told that if I had my situation would have been much worse. I also have a number of friends who smoked much of their life and as they got older they paid the price.
I will bet that you think Lung cancer is the main result, I will bet that you do not know that the number one cause of bladder cancer is smoking. Do not let others who also smoke help you justify it to yourself.

Damn, this hits close to home for me. My dad had esophageal cancer back in 2010, underwent all of the treatments and the surgery, and came through it cancer free. But on top of his wife dying the previous year, it was all too much for him to deal with, and his health just kept declining.

He passed away a week ago Monday at the age of 70. He spent the last months of his life in misery, so at least he isn't suffering any more. But that doesn't make me miss him any less.

Rest in peace, Adam.

It is events like these that makes one realise that the people behind the games are only human. I never knew Adam but I saw his work every time I opened a Bethesda game and I will miss his touch in future games.

Indeed, people forget that alot around these forums, they don't realise that every time they come here to criticize an element of Skyrim over and over again, there are people working on the other side, people who may have worked long, long hours away from their familys to implement what some fools here come to daily criticize about! Real people with feelings and lives of their own! Some think because this is the net that they can vent without consequence and anonyminity!

Well recently we lost one of those very special people who I am sure sacrificed alot during his working life, and ended up sacrificing even more in his personal life, RIP Adam, the heavens needed some amazing artwork plastered about anyhow  Wonder if they have a 'Squeeze the nun for service' doll up there? !

I think they will put some sort of Easter Egg in TES 6 or the next Future title they said he was drawing for right up to his end, I think Adam would have liked this, hopefully it will be amusing and to his sort of humor! Maybe they could put the squeezeable nun in ? !!

Sad indeed. Just dont turn this into a "Whitney Houston situation". People die all the time, no need to make to much fuss about it. The Death hysteria is not cool.

Peoples response after someone dies is proportionate to how many people they touched when they were alive, you think if a murderer dies there would be this outpouring of greef? Adam deserves respect just as much as he did when he was here with us, and it is natural for people to feel a huge sense of loss depending on how well they knew him! His work was fantastic and from all reports he was a great guy, I think it is disrespectful to say to people 'death happens all the time its nothing special' , let people remember him and mourn his loss in their own way!

Just salute Adam if you want but please let out those useless "exploits" about lifestyle, cancer etc.

We have lost a creative mind, and that's the only undebatable thing here.

To be fair, death is not anything special. Also, i never said that he did not deserve respect.

You seem to have an interesting view of your own Mortality, I guess it depends on how you live your life and who is part of it. I think since I am married, have family and a 2 year old daughter, that my death would be something to be mourn, so in a way it would be special, only one who has given up on life would not be afraid of Death. Adam certainly deserved to live on and create more masterpieces alas now he will have to do it in spirit form.
