Rise and Shine Dr. Freeman...

Who's to say that Half-life 3 will end the series?

Valve doesn't seem to be the kind of company that would stick to arbitrary conventions like that.
It might as well be the end, otherwise we'll wait 20 years for the 4th part.

Still it's better then nothing I guess. But I will say the whole open world thing is kinda reused cause I heard the same thing when HL2:E2 came out.
Just saying that we've been hearing these rumors for the past 5 years. This article isn't anything new.

Don't be silly----it should be Red, Blue, Green AND Yellow explosion but that's probably streatching it :D.

I spent so much time trying to climb out of those canols in HL2 and see the city... I made it up to the edge somewhere. It would be nice to look around properly in an open world game, rather than piling stuff up for half an hour and seeing expanses of nothingness.

By my calculations, 2013 Valve time could be anywhere between two and five years away

That's pretty generous

Don't know, it seems pretty realistic to me since valve usually has a 2 to 5 year time frame when they announce something. ;)

Now we just have to wait and see what comes down the pipe.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R comes to mind. Or ARMA... I wonder if that's the way the FPS is heading in general.

What? It's nothing new. I mean, Fallout 3 and New Vegas were Open World FPS/TPS. Same with Rage and Borderlands.

But for Half-Life? I just don't see it happening like that.
