A rodent was murdered in my house- what do I do?

Post » Mon Sep 09, 2013 4:47 pm

I came home earlier to find that there was a corpse in my kitchen. It was the corpse of a rather large mouse with it's guts all over the floor.

Does anybody have any tips for disposing of the body...I don't really want to touch it.

I think it was my cat.

If it was a person call police----but since it was a dead mouse...get a dust pan, scoop it up and toss it in the outside trash can.

Well, it won't disappear on its own, if that's what you're expecting. Take a bag, wrap it around your hand, and take the brutally murdered remains and throw it outside in the trash.

Don't worry, no humans have been murdered on my property.

Should I do anything to the purrpetrator?

He (she?) won't know what the heck the punishment is for, so no

You should only punish bad behavior in animals when you catch them in the act. Since we can't tell them why they're being punished, that's the only way to get them to realize it's unacceptable behavior.

Jesus Christ, you had me thinking there was an actual dead person in your house. I was thinking, "The [censored] are you doing typing this on a gaming forum?! Call the police and get out of the goddamned house NOW!"

But it's just a mouse. You could just bring a shovel in and scoop up the mouse and put it outside. As for the perp? The perp (and I'm assuming it's a cat) won't know why it's being punished. In the cat's mind, killing that mice is ancient history now. As far as it'd be concerned, you're just yelling at it for something it didn't even do. If you want to discourage that act, catch the cat in the act of killing the mice, THEN discipline.

Allow me to calm my heart rate now. You damned near came close to giving me a heart attack, here!

Rats are people too. You disgust me! :frog:

Also, you reminded me of something. I'd like to mention that a different member here once asked this forum for advice when some big guy showed up on his door, demanding money or something. I imagine the conversation going something like:
"Hey, I've come to receive the money."

"Uhh, just excuse me while I go and ask my forum for advice..."

Interesting how this forum sometimes turns out to be people's personal counseling board.

Or when they need medical help.

"Hey, I have knife-stabbing pain in my left leg and it's been going on for about two days now. I know, I'll consult the forum first."

:P I'm just kidding guys and gals. Just kidding! :P

It's not really much different than the occasional person who posts here about the huge, festering sore somewhere on his/her body, or the pissing of blood that they've been dealing with for the past week or two, and asking what they should do about it.

"Uhhh ... maybe go see a doctor?"

Ninja'd again, damnit! Oh forum, what should I do?

I wish my cat would have done that, instead of bringing it to my bed.

Anyways, what you should do after disposing of the body and making sure there are no witnesses, you might want to clean your floor, otherwise you won't be able to eat food off it anymore.

You guys are over thinking this.

Just bury it in the backyard just like you would any dead body.

Absolutely nothing. Eventually it will rot until it is bones, and the bones will turn to dust.

That would be an awkward situation if it was a roommates pet, however if it was a neighbors pet...what they don't know, won't hurt them.

Till then you can sit back and enjoy the oily smell of decay :P.
