Sad Day

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:33 am

This is a sad day for me. One of the big draws of the Elder Scrolls, for me at least was the solo play. Not having to put up with griefers or kids that rush around and ruin the fun for everyone else that wants to take their time. I will admikt to a real fear that this means the end of the solo play Edler Scroll games.

It is a very sad day if this is so, another of the great games has been cheapened and dumbed down so quicky cash can be made.

Or go and play one of the many single player games in the series. If the game ends up being a flop, they'll put more emphasis on single player games. If the game is a success, then its a success and we can all enjoy it.
Worst case scenario is that it turns out to be popular amongst casual gamers and not the dedicated fanbase but hasn't that always been the worry?

Don't hold your breath.

For all of its successes, the one thing Skyrim doesn't have is other players. Is there a chance we'll ever see a multiplayer title, or even an MMO, from Howard and his company? "You can never say never to anything like that," he admitted, "but it's not what our focus is. This type of game is where our hearts are, what we get excited about, and that's what we want to focus on. We don't want to lose that focus and we never want to sacrifice anything in the singleplayer game just to have it be multiplayer."

Right, because we've never seen a single player series continue on after an MMORP-- oh wait, we have.

Possibly... An offline mode might be implemented.

I wish MMO's did do that... most MMO's you can play through every quest without actually needing anyone. Why not offer an offline mode for players that just want to experience the quest... maybe just add some NPC followers or bots if you need help with a few quest.

quicky cash can be made.
ZOS has been working on this for five years, hardly "quicky cash."

And since this is being developed by a separate studio BGS is free to continue making single player RPGs.

This is why I stopped playing new games since Oblivion came out. The industry is nothing like it used to be. For me, pretty much the only thing that shows any promise lately is Wasteland 2.

And they were all oh so successful, keeping in the spirit of the previous releases- oh wait, no they weren't.

Fairly certain Final Fantasy XI was successful.
So was Star Wars Galaxies.
And Lord of the Rings Online.

As they are still currently running, still currently have decently high populations, they are successful.

So... yeah, next?

All of the games of those that came out for consoles are still pretty great. I actually like FF XIII-2

This...was not the question. The question was whether or not their STAND ALONE GAMES were successful after they launched MMO's. They weren't. Even the ones that are financially decent (Star Wars for the name alone) were terrible games.

I swear people will worry and complain about anything... the Single Player Experience will still be made... stop letting the idiots that have no clue what there talking about sway you into thinking this will ruin the main games.

Bethesda Game Studious will continue working on the projects they work on, Zenimax Online will work on the MMO, and BS has tried to make this clear without saying what exactly they are working cause clearly it's to soon to announce anything.

I read the scans and the amount by which they have already screwed things is appalling....
I'm not only not going to play this, if I don't hear something good about it soon i'm going to ignore that this monstrosity even exists.
