Safest place to live now and in the future?

At this point, I'd say England or southern Ireland ( except Limerick ) is looking pretty good at this point...

Isn't there in-fighting there still?

You mean like the troubles up north? Not really, only the occasional mad IRA bastard deciding he wants to kill somebody. Very rare though.

Yes, something like that, though I tried to say it without getting political/religious.

Canada and Europe's Nordic countries have a lot going for them, but if fresh water suddenly hits a critical shortage these places would suddenly receive far more global attention.

However they'd probably still be at the top of my list.

Considering this, we should probably stop talking about it.

I thought there were rabid Koala bears there because someone was spraying mayonnaise all over the eucalyptus trees.

And kangaroo problems.
Nah, wildlife's no big problem as long as you give it some space. You can pick somewhere with minimal amounts, too.

The United States is actually pretty safe, assuming you don't live in a poor area. We have big oceans on either side, and a huge military to prevent anyone from invading us. Our crime rate is a little high, but you can avoid that just by not going to the wrong part of town.

As far as Finland is concerned water is not a problem and there's always plenty of guns to keep the masses away. Food would be a problem though and WILL be. Without foreign support Finnish domestic agriculture and other food industry could hardly feed more than one or two million people. Nothing grows here except pain and sorrow.

The US would be one of my last choices. Of course I'm not an American but the statistics speak for themselves. Insane crime rates, murder rates, everyone has a gun, poverty, unsupportive system, abominable health care... You gotta have a lot of luck to live among the privileged. True about the military thing though - I don't see USA ever falling to foreign invasion.

Without getting into politics or religion, where do you think the safest place to live on this planet would be... reasonably speaking. No bubble colonies under the ocean.

Based on current events and possible outcomes, what place is likely to endure over time?
Northern Canada.
Not much to say really. Next to no people up there just. I'm speaking of North West Territories by the way. Traveled there and if you fear a WWIII head there.

The U.S would be the last choice of a place to go via water shortage could happen in the future ext. Who knows but it will happen.

I can't think of any place that would be the safest really (assuming there would be other people around). Guess I'll just stay put then...

I think rural England or Wales is pretty safe. Unless we are targetted by nuclear warheads for some reason. Though you could say that about anywhere.

No natural disasters, very boring weather patterns, no dangerous animals, and in the countryside, very low crime-rates.

Isn't that the definition of safe?

Keep off the moors!

I think you need to look outside more often and stop hiding indoors. A few years back, my grandma would go for regular walks but now, she's too scared to set foot outside her house and she's not one to scare easily.

The only reason crime appears to have decreased is that people no longer have faith in the police so far fewer crimes are reported. I can't say any more than that without getting into a political debate.

Hawaii...lol. Only thing you gotta watch out for is pissed off locals when you disrespect the native culture. Oahu is probably the most militarized per square foot piece of land in all the United States. Seriously...

We would be targeted first though from most of the major powers that have the most likely chance of threatening the United States. Even though technically Hawaii is not a part of the United states! Lol at illegal take overs!

Oh and if you cannot swim then you might have a problem here though plenty of people get by without knowing how to swim.

The ocean, the deepest darkest part of it. Really if you could get there and survive it would be the safest place ever :)

The cook islands.

The place has a minimal crime rate. Nobody has guns or uses knives in fights. There are no disease problems and the hospitals and police force are an extension of New Zealand both being at the highest level in the world.
It is not near anyone who would want to attack it and has no oil reserves.

The cook islands is also completely self sustainable in times of world wide zombie uprising.

Agreed. Everything about it reeks of STAY AWAY FROM ME, mainly the crime/murder rates, gun laws, and the health care regime.

Actually, it is entirely dependent on which state you live in...Example, if you live in the south east you get a much higher crime: educational deficiency ratio than if you were to live in the North east, and the eastern u.S. is much more traditional (To a fault sometimes) than the Western US. and this is clearly illustrated depending on how far north/south you go...Seattle and ironically Bethesda Maryland are the some of the most safest cities in the US, also, the more prominent the slums are bred into the city's structure, the more corrupt and crime-ridden it is, and that's true from every city from Russia to the shanty towns of Brazil... Conversely the more rich, higher educated the most safest..From Bethesda to Vienna Austria.

..But yeah, we DO have a pretty shabby educational and medical system, which vastly contributes to our nation's crime and corruption, which is in no small part due to the insatiable greed that drives our motivation for our existence...Oh, crap, now I've veered off into the political zone!
