Saints Row 3..

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 5:31 am

My step-son has been talking about how he wants this game. We even went to Gamestop to buy it and I got into an argument with one preachy employee (same a-hole I constantly argue with). Needless to say we didn't buy it which left my 12 year old step-son crying (don't even get me started on that).

So, what is this game? I've read some reviews that it's like a mash up of different games all rolled into one confusing game. Look, I play RPGs like FO3, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and New Vegas. When I want mindless games I play stuff like Call of Duty (not online) and puzzle games. So, I don't usually follow anything unless it has Bethesda tied to it.

I just watched some videos of SR3 and I'm left scratching my head. Don't preach to me about ratings, because I don't care. My son plays CoD, Halo, FO3, NV, Fable, LFD, GTA and a whole slew of other games so I don't "baby" him in respect to that. I just want to know, since the ass at Gamestop has me annoyed with his, "porm" comment from this afternoon is this game honestly as bad as the idiot at Gamestop made it out to be?

His exact words to me were, "Well, if you are going to let him play this game you might as well let him watch porm. Because they are the same thing." I nearly jumped the counter and smashed his face into it. I hate this guy that much.

If anyone has experience with this game let me know what it's about. Cause from reading the description and watching some videos I have no idea.I did see one thing that said, "Brief Nudity" but my step son has played through L.A. Noire and RDR so its not like he hasn't see cartoon nekkidness and what-not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I should ask some of his friends as I'm sure they've played it.

Its GTA but more "fun" and less serious. Also, I probably wouldn't let a 12 year old play it but I don't have a kid so I can't judge.

If he plays those other games, he can play SR3. It certainly doesn't have any worse than GTA or LA Noir, etc.

And it's definitely not "porm." You can get naked, and there's some skimpy clothing, but nudity is pixelated.

Well, RDR has a scene with two mexicans humping, there's nothing as bad as that. They're not the best games ever anyway.

Wow, that guy was obviously sheltered as a child. Don't let anybody tell you how to raise your child. If the guy wants to tell you not to buy the game then he shouldn't be working in retail.

Nudity is pixalated, and clothing can be revealing (not to mention that there are some "sixual" weapons). I don't think it's a game for a 12 year-old, but it really depends how mature he is and it's really up to you if you want to allow him to play it. The guy who wouldn't let you buy it is pretty ridicilous. Go there on a different day when he's not there or something.

Where was the parachute in that video? In his butt? :)

Anyway, as far as that guy in Gamestop him and I always get into it. He was preaching to me about Modern Warfare 3 a few weeks ago when I bought it for my son for Christmas.

My son isn't that mature but we do instill in him that games are games. He is a very smart kid, A's and B's in school. When he was playing LA Noire he understood "crime has been committed, forget it's a naked girl and concentrate on collecting evidence" and when he ran across the Mexicans in RdR he asked about it and my wife and I tried to explain it without going into too much detail. He's not an idiot, he's already learned about it in school.

I've actually complained to Gamestop corporate about the idiot employee. I'm also sure there are "parental" controls. Thanks for answering my questions, I appreciate it.

If hes that mature, then he should be fine. I'll agree with you on that whole "Gamestop Employee" bit, they can be the worst at times. I have met a couple worth chatting with, and whenever I go to Gamestop, I just have to hope the good guys are there. Otherwise, I don't even try talking to them. I just go to the least annoying one and then leave.

If you have faith in your son being mature about this game, then buy it for him. Don't let that rude comment stop you; Especially when its probably coming from a guy who's been playing Call of Duty for the last seven years, and when he saw the "Penetrator" weapon in SR3 he thought it would make it the most disgusting video game to date.

The age someone is shouldn't color the media they're allowed to consume. It should be based on the actual person.

And I don't know about SR3, people have told me it's fun. Like a silly GTA.

Well, besides the sixual weapons, like the [censored] bat. Which is called "The Penetrator" in-game it's okay. Just depends on how mature he is. I was mature enough to play games like SR3 when I was 12, 4 years ago.

It's basically a GTA that out-GTAs GTA. If that makes any sense. It's a highly over-the-top and very crude game in the most hilarious way possible. Lots and lots of immature humor. If your kid plays GTA and Red Dead Redemption he could probably handle it though

Honestly I hate all employees at Gamestop. They think that if you let your kids play mature games they will turn into blood-thirsty murders.
I remember when I was 12 I used to many games like GTA and other similar ones.

Am I a blood-thirsty psychopath?
Nope, I'm fine.

I'd suggest letting your kid play it and when your getting the game, try speaking to the manager about that guy as he certainly
shouldn't be behaving like that.

Depends on the store really. I've always liked the employees at my local Gamestop.

Same here... except my local GameStop never stocks up on PC games, so I usually have to go to another GameStop to buy the game I want.

Closest things to porm, would be the bdsn club, with the pony club (guys pulling rickshaws with bdsn gear on). You free a pimp with an autotune voice, then in a later mission are naked and beating six slaves to death with the [censored] bat.

Not much else I remember. Oh and there is six appeal option in the CC...

I couldn't stand Saints Row 2. Saints Row 3 is ok, but it's definately a "bro gamer" type of game. All flash and "cool" songs and lots of over the top swear words, but nothing special.

I liked SR2, and am thinking of trading in SR3 already.

I have a 12 year old brother and he seems similar to your step son in regards to games. I am 19 and my elder brother is 21 and he's always played COD, GTA etc. Saints Row seems like a more childish, whacky GTA.

I'd say it's harmless for him to play, especially if he's played RDR, FO3 etc.
