A little interview.

It costs developers $40,000 to post a patch for a game on XBLA and PSN? No wonder more and more indies are leaving XBLA/PSN and coming to the PC. That's pretty crazy.

So there's going to be a DRM free version of the game that the backers will also get, in case you're allergic to Steam. And the platforms announced so far are PC, Mac, Linux, Android/iOS.

The guy has that easy/amiable/content disposition that's really likable. I can see why people throw money at him. I'll go donate some money now.

Never played the original. I just like seeing how games are now made for the fans, even "dead" genres.

Neither have I, but I can't see how a new game by the creators of the original Fallouts could be anything but amazing.

Addendum: Brian Fargo is also attached to Baldur's Gate!

Wasteland is still one of my favorite games ever (my forum avatar is a character from that game). I really hope they're able to follow through with the sequel.

How is vegas open after a war ? Only makes sense in fallout due to the NCR.

If the gameplay didnt look too... Dated for my liking, I would try this game. I assume it will has lots of references in fallout 1-2 and NV.

It's not a fully-functional city with intact casinos and such. People do live there, though, and the territory is controlled by two "crime bosses," Faran Brygo and Fat Freddy.

Yeah, some of the factions and places in Fallout 1 are nearly straight out of Wasteland.

With a part 2 coming tomorrow.

Also worth checking out is the 35 minute conversation between http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=re_LWmRJK-g, which took place just before the kickstarter project was started. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsfHmeXeIJc&feature=player_embedded.

They're up to $2.26 million now, with 2 weeks left to go!

There isn't another way, as far as I know. Kickstarter uses Amazon for its payments and I think you can only pay with a credit card on there.

I don't have a credit card either but I gave my parents the cash and let them pay it with theirs.

If you have been planning on backing this project, but keep putting it off, keep in mind that there is less than 24 hours until the Kickstarter drive closes.

Of course it's probably going to be available once it's finished, but paying for it now makes a statement to the industry about the validity of classic point-and-click adventures. So it's really a matter of principle.

4 hours to go, they're at 3.1 million now. They'll be counting down the last two hours live in the office at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/double-fine-adventure.

Also check out the http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2, which got off to a good start today. :)

So in the end they made it to $3,335,265! That's about $100,000 more than before the livestream started. :hehe:

That's really an awful response http://youtu.be/F6FC_uGYwbw got when he wanted to make a new Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon type of game, a hardcoe tactical shooter.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/355932838/crowdsourced-hardcoe-tactical-shooter.

I love Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, I was actually replaying GRAW so I am in.
