Silly video game superstitions

I always save before clicking exit, and click save and exit.

Same here. When entering/exiting interior/exteriors, I always save as well.

I tend to spray at the enemy car before and when they're in it so that it has burst tires, and it works. Then I get in my car and give chase only to realise that the other cars tires have re-inflated and I need to gangsta style out the window of my car to do it again.
Whenever I play Free Mode on GTA IV, people tend to learn to be careful when attacking me while I'm in a car. They always seem surprised when they start doing a drive-by on my car and every single bullet I fire, while driving at speed, goes through their windshield and into his/her face.
I can't turn left.

Makes racing games a nightmare.
You could reverse the direction on a NASCAR track. You'd actually have an advantage since no NASCAR driver can turn right.

I don't know those 'connect the pipes' puzzle games just make sense to me. I'll hack a vending machine and not even buy anything.

I liked that too. My ancient 486 had a similar puzzle game where you had to build a pipe before the water floods out. Don't remember the name, but i did wonder if it was just a coincidence that they were practically the same.

Dark souls made me very paranoid. WILL NOT transverse the white light without full potions and full health. :nope:

I horde money. Even if the game is known to be plentiful in the money department.

I horde consumables... I'll play through something 5-6 times instead of using a consumable to beat it the first time :P

About the only thing I ever actually use are health pots when no time to heal (like while death blow swing is RIGHT ABOUT to hit me lol)... sometimes mana pots if it's a boss type fight (otherwise I force myself to wait on regen, which is stacked, and save pots for boss fight)

I am the opposite, I try to not have a lot of money so I do not always feel like a money bags in games.

Im paranoid parrot, I horde potions and scrolls. I look for tactical advantages such as looking to get double kills with the melta gun in space marine, or double kill in tf2 with the machina.

.I did that in System Shock 2 as well. I never bought a single item from the vending machines, but I always hacked them.
i prefered the hacking by a long shot in system shock 2. did not get tedious and so many things influenced your chances of success, like a true rpg.

they are exactly the same near enough just simpler in bioshock, yes its pipe dreams. in system shock 2 you can get a MFD player (basically a portable console) that lets you play all kinds of gimmicky old school games such as minesweeper. thats if you find the games lying around. there is at least 10 i think.

I will reload my firearms every time I get a chance, even if my magazine is just short by one round.

When I'm done playing a game, I will save the game manually and then press the "Save & Exit" option in the menu.

I used to quicksave like nuts, but the common checkpoints/autosaves in most games has mostly gotten me out of that habit.

I loot all of the dead bodies.

EDIT: Also.

A fellow SysShock fan! Awesome. I don't come across you guys too often on the interwebs, sadly enough. But anyway...

IMO the hacking in System Shock 2 was completely uninspired. The hacking in System Shock 1 was kind of gimmicky but at least it was interesting. I would like to see something sort of like what they originally envisioned for SysShock 1 - a realistically technical hacking simulation. :-)

I don't know if this really qualifies as a superstition, but anytime I enter a maze, dungeon, what have you, I always go left first. Later I may go right instead of left, but the first turn is always to the left.

SS2 is one of the greatest games ever made- FACT deus ex too. people would realise that if knew the games inside out

you serious? what game has better hacking then? only 1 id say- deus ex human revolution, but that got a little tedious without lockpicking to mix it up. how can you say its uninspiring? yes it is a luck based game, but also a stat based game. many things factor into your success- hacking skill, cyber attribute, cyber implants, cyber affinity psi power, hacking software and luck. the mini-game itself was pretty standard but stats make up for it. think final fantasy series- combat is basically select command, watch player execute it, but the rpg gameplay behind it makes up for it. system shock 2 overall is a perfect mix of skill & stat based gameplay.

I always save potions/scrolls or whatever items that temporarily boost my abilities, even if it means dying a lot. Somewhere in my head I always think that I shouldn't waste them because I might need them later.

Then during the final boss fight of the game, with my inventory full of those buff items, I still refuse to use them.

I do that too. I always end up with at least 100 pounds of potions and potion ingredients in my inventory in TES.

I will reload my firearms every time I get a chance, even if my magazine is just short by one round.

This too. I'm actually trying to break myself of it because it's gotten me killed more than a few times. Damn you, muscle memory.

Check every inch of an area before moving on
Always making sure I have a full clip of ammo even after firing 1 bullet (though i'm sure its what a lot of others do too)
Closing all doors before I exit/move forward from an area (not sure why, guess so that I know when an enemy has entered)
Sneak around everywhere pretending to be an assassin (its even gotten to the point where I whisper if someone tries to talk to me while I'm doing it)

Never reload when you have an odd number of shots left in your mag.

I had 5 shots left in my 10mm when I reloaded in Fallout 3, I left the metro and found myself face to face with a deathclaw random encounters.

I have now exclusively reloaded only when I have an even number (or 0) shots left I my gun. In every game.

Yup. I've got like 40 stamina potions in Skyrim right now. I have 330 Stamina...I use a bow...I don't need all those potions, but I refuse to get rid of them.

Not something I do ingame, but whenever I'm playing a PC game, I have a certain way of sitting. My old desk had a little divet where my right wrist would rest.

As for catching Pokemon, instead of DOWN + B, I tap A when the ball shakes and I catch it, if I don't do it and fail I blame the fact I didn't do it :P
