Similar games to Skyrim?

If you like first person melee/magic combat, http://store.steampowered.com/app/2100/?snr=1_7_suggest__13 is a good choice.

A thing to keep in mind is that it's not really an RPG, more of a first person melee/magic combat game. And it's completely linear. But http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWKRkhpFqhE, so many fun ways to kill enemies.

Someone had given me that for PC and said it was like Oblivion... I went through 50% of the game wondering when I could go to town to sell [censored] lol.

If I didn't think it was an RPG at first, I might have not run over it with my car.

That's the problem, it came out at the same time as Oblivion (like, a month earlier) and a lot of people thought it was going to be similar and ended up disappointed. If you take it for what it is then it's a fun game.

Two Worlds 1 was superior in almost every way to Skyrim. Factions, quests, armor, weapons, (maybe not spells, but close enough, they both svck terribly), alchemy, horseback combat... even the landscape. AND the dialogue was funny enough to be worth more than Skyrim's infinite loop playback.

Edit: But if you want something else like Skyrim, MW3 just came out. MW2 is fine too.

Finally, someone else who doesn't think Two Worlds 1 was garbage. I like that game quite a bit, corny dialog and all, although I have to admit that I prefer Skyrim.

The Gothic series are enjoyable games -some points are superior to TES.
I wish the two would get together and merge the best parts from each game.

Mount and Blade Warband (modded) Not 100% similar but it's a great RPG and strategy game.

World of Warcraft 234 ?
Eh?

Anyway, the only other games like Skyrim that I've ever played are Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda is the only company that does what it does, really. But they do do it well.

To add my two cents to the Fallout 3 vs. New Vegas debate, I like Fallout 3 more. Perhaps that's because I playe it first, but it had a better world, in my opinion. More things to explore, and an actual reason to do so. New Vegas may have had a better story, but I never found Fallout 3's to be bad. A little cheesy. maybe, but not bad. People have been spoiled. :whistling:

I'm also one of the few people, it seems, that had absolutely no problem that the game originally ended. I just loaded a save and went on my way.

World of Warcraft, I'm sure its that unpopular MMO? Which I followed with 234, these were meant to be random keyboard bashes and failed.

I liked it too - just that damn Fawkes I disliked <_<

At first I though that maybe you were talking about Warcraft 2, 3, and 4, but then I realised that there has (Sadly) never been a Warcraft 4, and then I was sad. And confused.

You make not like WoW, but many, many other people do. ALthough I'm not one of them. It got boring after a year of playing and I never played it again.

I've never played, don't plan to pay a subscription for it - Live is enough. I'm just playing around, you should join in with your Staff of Frostbite :poke:

I'd much rather have a Warcraft 4 then a new WoW expansion. I wasn't a huge fan of the other Warcraft games, but a new decent RTS is something I desperately want.

Let's all agree that WoW is no longer World of Warcraft, which is an abomination, but the abbreviation for Winds of Winter, the next installment of the Song of Ice and Fire series. I've had enough with World of Warcraft.

Games like Skyrim? The obvious answers are Oblivion and Morrowind. If you loved Skyrim enough to see where it branches off from, try those. Oblivion might be stale to most by now and in comparison to Skyrim, but Morrowind has a uniqueness to it that seems to never die away. It'll always be my favorite game, hopefully others can get on board even after the action-packed Skyrim.

The Mass Effects and Dragon Age Origins from Bioware are roughly similar, and then again not even close. All three are great, though.

Demon Souls and Dark Souls are different, but are pretty RPG and make for a ridiculous challenge that you'll come to love after getting your ass kicked enough.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are as close as you can get to the Elder Scrolls feel, but in a completely different universe. They're the same engine, the same game (more or less) in different worlds. They play 100% differently as well, so if you haven't played them yet, you should.

But truly, a game like that of the Elder Scrolls universe? With all it has to offer? I've been searching and waiting for years. I don't think there's one out there yet, and it will probably be pretty damn hard for another company to find Bethesda's success. They have a winning formula, they do.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but... Arx Fatalis. These forums even have a specific section for it. http://www.gamesas.com/forum/149-arx-fatalis-general-discussion/

Doesn't cost a lot of money, and it's super fun.

and stay away from Dragon age 2

There's a chance he might like it. No need to shoot the game down before he even tries it; Its not open world, but its a decent RPG on its own. I'd suggest trying the first one though, and going on from there.

I agree with this.

Dragon Age 2 is a decent game, but I don't think it even compares with the first one. I might even start playing Dragon Age Origins again, since my old computer only ran it on like 11 FPS.

Fallout 3 was pretty much an Elder Scrolls game set in the Fallout universe. New Vegas is much more in tune with the originals lore-wise, story-wise and interesting characters and dialogue...wise.
