simple things you wish were in the game

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 9:25 am

Skyrim is great, probably the best game to come out in the last few years, despite what some people have said here and elsewhere what bethesda has done once again is stunning.
but almost 60 hours in ( i have no life) i find some things that could have been simple were not in the game, im sure others feel the same.
this isnt a "skyrim svcks" thread but a more of " bethesda, in any expansion or even an awesome patch, please do this, at least have it in the next elder scrolls"

1. Fishing
currently you can hand fish but that isnt super fun. a simple mini game of fishing could be a fun, relaxing, and if you do alchemy or cooking somewhat rewarding.
requirements? fishing pole, and a bucket, bucket holds 5 fish ( this makes buckets worth something to players that aren't roleplaying their house) sitting by a river with a decent fishing mini game would be fun, especially when you can admire the view of skyrim ( in b4 random bear attacks)

2. Better cooking
cooking is a good addition to the elder scrolls series, but 99% of the stuff isn't that good, i mean horker loaf heals what, 10hp? that is nothing if i want to heal that little i might as well use the starting heal spell.
some items give buffs over 720 seconds, these are great but there are so few of them, i would suggest some food that heals more, some that has longer and better buffs ect. in reality, new recipes arent needed, just make the current food much better.

3. This might be in the game already but i cant figure out how to do it ( xbox360) when you pick stuff up to move it around the game world ( hold A for 360) i would like to be able to spin it around so i can set it on a table or a shelf and stuff.

4. mammoths should drop pelts/skin to make leather.
nose and tusk as loot for such a beast is mediocre in my opinion.

5. more people in towns, especially taverns.
Skyrim and the nords remind me of the epic of Beowulf. as such I imagine taverns or the companions guild at least as being lively, with everyone drinking, eating sweet delicious meat and singing of their peoples past battles ( would be fun if they added new songs as the game progressed) walking into the tavern at whiterun i was pretty pleased, i even sat and listened o the bard, but it felt dead, with only 3-4 other people there.

these are what i came up with, hope people agree, Post your thoughts as well =p

As the adage goes, content is king, no doubt modders will take the game to a entierly new level.

playing on my PC with an xbox controller is great, as your list will be modded in soon enough. and then I can enjoy the game with great controls etc.

frankly I find food to be okey as they are, it′s already silly you can heal any HP with them (think about it, your healing sword stabs and wolf bites by chewing on a apple  ) there more to speed up natural healing after a fight.

rest tho sounds like fun ideas.

since there is no hardcoe mode ( which i wish there was) food would have no purpose if it didn't heal. its more of a mini game atm, it could be something more. a dragon born should never go into battle without some mead and leg of goat roast.

What I'd really like is the ability to leave notes on the map.

I'd like climbing.
Hell, in a perfect world we could get acrobatic, climbing, unarmored and hand to hand merged in a single skill tree.
Alas reducing the number of skill is the only way it will ever be.
Expecting 12 skills for tes6.

I think they took out the option to get drunk. I know you can partake in drinking games, but those are randomly occurring and hard to come by, and you can't just do it on your own anymore. This has been my new favorite game of all time since the day it came out (40 hours in and loving it <3), but I miss downing a bunch of wine in Oblivion and passing out. (:

EDIT: Although thinking back on it, that might've been a mod, in which case, disregard this!

The ability to start a campfire in the open and set down a bed roll. Just make it so no matter how long you sleep, you just become rested instead of well rested.

-Better textures

-Not be able to climb rock cliff faces by jumping

-Not be able to climb cliff faces by jumping while on my horse

-More unique weapons and armor

-Dungeons with static weapons/armor/monsters

-More mudcrabs

-Better textures

-Less MMO-errand quests (I'm a Dragonborn, not a delivery boy)

Looking back, I wouldn't call either vanilla Oblivion or vanilla Skyrim worthy of the GotY title (for all it's worth), as several studios with smaller teams and budgets seem more deserving. Once the CS is out I will still sing praise to them, because they retain some of the best modding communites who I'm sure will continue to do amazing things to all things TES. With this in mind, I don't see the point in asking the devs for anything more than the engine and the playground, because honestly they have not shown polishing their content to be a strong point. Makes me wonder how much of that is the fault of the team, or the publisher, or perhaps just a certain man's poor judgement. Hubris? Incompetence? Greed? I don't call carelessness, because that would make me the fool for continuing to buy it. To a point though, of course they don't care. The average person is such a short-sighted thing, grasping at any chance for personal gain and clinging to whatever else grants the feeble mind comfort, only truly motivated to work honestly for what it is routinely given when all the stars align. For such a painstaking work of art to ever come to fruition, the ones with real passion have no choice but to face reality and meet somewhere in the middle. And I pity them, for with each passing day, there becomes, in anything, what could have been, and what one must force oneself to look upon, to build upon, knowing it is more and more unlikely to fix.

The game's not bad, of course, but flawed to the point where it feels like the people who know what's actually important are losing ground to a faceless, unfeeling machine, strings attached to every joint and appendage, manipulating the body to squeeze the most gain from another's labor. I like to think the way I do because no matter any brave or clever words, in the end, I am but a powerless, weak-willed human, longing to fool myself that there's still someone out there fighting the good fight. Someone that can't help but keep trying, steeling himself before failure in defense of his convictions. Better that than to live thinking I fight alone, or worse, to look upon despair, death, injustice, all the inevitable evil and random wrongdoings that have been and will be, and to accept them. No, I'd rather die free and romantic, foolish and alone, before living used, perverted, conflicted, lying, a beast throwing into the fire all it once held dear for that one more bit of warmth, safety. No, I'd rather be human. I'd rather not be just another meek, pathetic creature to melt when a decision must be made, to forsake everything I believe in just to avoid the consequence, to avoid the contempt of those that march on, to let someone else play the martyr. If only they knew the history they repeat. I only know that we know nothing.

Will I learn, watching them walk into the gates of oblivion?

At that point, will I want to follow?

2. Detailed 'Miscellaneous' quest log entries.

That is all.

Everything is great. Just one little thing. Let me light candles, hearths, fire pits etc, with my fire spell and let me put them all out with an ice spell.

i would like to see more monsters in the sea like crocodiles or other mythical creatures, heck maybe even a underwater city since there are waterbreathing items.
now ofcourse i havent explored all of the see but i did swim arround for a good 15 minutes north of the map to find nothing there other then a couple of salmon near the surface, didnt see a single slaughterfish or exciting treasures.
i hope in some patch or dlc they will allow combat in water and add allot of sea/water monsters.

1-Levitate.It is essential in the game.Especially with all those mountains,it is annoying to know your target is just behing the slope you're looking at but you need to have a waorld tour to reach it.
I'm afraid that one day I'll TCL my way over.

2-Lanterns.They are everywhere and you can get one, only if it cannot give you light. The ones with candles in it are static objects what the uck?

3-Normal merchants.Ones that cannot see the stolen flag code on my iron longsword.I guess they are all "the one"s that can see the code revolving around the objects. How could they tell a iron longsword from a bandit apart from another I stole at the other end of the town otherwise?

More loot on animals, seems weird when certain things don't have hides... also it would be awesome if they could add in new armour and weapons that you can smith via mods or DLC would really keep hunting fresh. Also I wonder how difficult it will be to add in new types of ore etc

Portable campsites, hunting lodge.

PANTS!!! I want my greaves and monkey pants, anything, I bet the not having a character model to look at and dress up is apart of a cover up to keep people from noticing there are no pants in Skyrim...........
