I also put in a vote for the STALKER games. They were up for pretty cheap a few days ago though.

Played Portal 1 and never finished it. I think I got bored. Or fustrated on a certain level. Puzzle games aren't my thing lol
Don't throw out hope for Portal 2. The puzzles, while still fun and thought-provoking are toned down from those of Portal. The game seems to focus more on story and making a fun game to play as you progress though said story. I really liked it.

Also, I'll throw another recommendation in for BioShock. It really is one of the greatest games of this generation. Although, if the computer you've made this thread on is even remotely modern, do yourself a favor and get SystemShock 2. It's what the guys who made BioShock made before they made BioShock, so, that's to say it's better.

The OP specified Xbox Live, otherwise I would have recommended S.T.A.L.K.E.R. too.

Bioshock is the best shooter I ever played. Outstanding game.

Bioshock is fun... but that statement makes me think you haven't played many FPS games.

I really like FPS games.

Metro 2033*
Bioshock*
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast*
Undying*
Postal II*
XIII*
Unreal
Half-Life 1-2, episodes
Prey*
Crysis
No One Lives Forever 2
Halo
Quake
Duke Nukem 3D
F.E.A.R
Doom 3
Call of Duty 2
The Chronicles of Riddike: Escape from Butcher Bay(Dark Athena includes this)*
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Aliens versus Predator 2*
Return to Castle Wolfenstein*
Far Cry
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six games, Raven Shield is a nice one and Vegas games are also good.
Star Wars: Republic Commando*
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Soldier of Fortune*
Quake 4
Hidden & Dangerous

Some of these are old, so beware. The ones with * are must play.

I don't like TPS games but I vote for Dead Space 1 and 2 too. Amazing games. If you count Mirror's Edge a shooter, you can add that too.

I'll throw in a vote for Borderlands.

Also, it's not first person, but Just Cause 2 is hilariously fun if you like to blow [censored] up. It's not linear at all, you can hop in a jet/ helicopter/ boat/ 747 and go anywhere you want. It's like all the crazy parts of GTA IV on steroids in one game.

Um.... That's more like Saint's Row 3.

Bioshock
Borderland
Metro 2033
Deux Ex: HR

DE:HR has a lot of RPG elements, Borderland is a bit lacking in terms of storyline, but it's a very enjoyable title. Bioshock and Metro 2033 are both superb in terms of gameplay and graphics, Metro 2033 has better story imo.

I guess, but Saint's Row is the God of all sandbox games, JC2 doesn't compare, and GTA IV is a maggot among both, in terms of screwing around, of course. :P
