single player FPS or RPGs

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 12:01 am

Anyone know of any good single player RPGs or FPSs that I can download on Xbox Live?

Just finished New Vegas and Rage and kind of want something in the same vain. And fun achievements to get.

Doom one and two. As far as I'm concerned, they are the only FPSs. Nukeum gets put under action.

Fallout 1, 2, & Tactics. They are not Beth games. And also, you may want to try The Burned Game, just to get a taste of the horror we all felt. If you want its real name, go ask around on the Fallout forums. It'll probably take a while to get an answer, though, as we do not mention it by name. Ever.

Any particular reason why? Other than you've played them of course. The thing that is most similar to NV is F3, and then Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind.

Played them to death. Need something fresh. I really liked Rage. I heard good things about Borderlands.

We need more companies making open world First-Person shooters and RPGs!

Come on guys, its takes awhile to cash out but you know you'll get a solid fan base if its done well.

Borderlands should satisfy both criteria, it is the most action oriented RPG I have ever played(its actually an RPS). It is a lot simpler then New Vegas and is pretty linear, but it's just so insanely fun.

Metro 2033.

Atmosphere is amazing, setting is post apoc Moscow, visuals are great too.
I like the difficulty approach, you do more dmage but so do enemies, hardcoe reduces ammo found.
Achivements are fun e.g Sneak through black station. You can always justkill people, but I prefer stealth, also it makes enemies human, nt some emotionless killing machines.

Its linear.

I found borderlands to be extremely dull.

One last thing about metro, its made by guys who worked on Stalker.

Bioshock is good if you haven't played System Shock and if you haven't played System Shock you really should.

Borderlands is GOOD if you have friends but still playable on its own.

Far Cry 2 is an incredible game once you get over what it does and stop whining about it. i'm not sure if that's up for download but if it is it's totally worth it.

Metro 2033 is short and pretty and atmospheric and riddled with absolutely horrible design decisions and doesn't have much replay value unless you really really like subway tunnels.

if Dark Messiah is up for download it's a pretty fun game. nice level design, pretty fun combat and good potential for some really great emergent gameplay moments.

if your computer has any GPU other than something by Intel, even if it's just an old integrated Geforce or something, you should be able to play STALKER, and you should play STALKER because it's the best.

+1 for Metro 2033. One of the more difficult shooters out there and that plays well into the atmosphere.

Deus Ex Human Revolution? Mix of FPS and RPG. I don't know if it's available for download on Xbox live.

Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga is a pretty damn fine game. I also give a vote for Metro 2033.

I thought Borderlands was a helluva lot of fun, and I played it mostly single player. It's got humor, and if you love loot drops and changing weapons out reguarly as you get new ones, it's a great game.

I also loved Bioshock. It's got one of the best atmospheres of any FPS I've ever played. The whole thing felt more like a total "experience" than just a game. That said, some of the FPS elements don't feel as sharp as other games (no ADS, for example).

I could be in the minority, but I didn't like Deus Ex: Human Revolution at all. Drab, boring environments... drab, boring, flat (and annoying) main character... convoluted storyline... lack of variety in locations... plus I never felt that it did either the FPS or the RPG genre very well. I'd put it more in the "stealth" category, similar to a MGS game.

Metro 2033, Bioshock and Farcry 2 seem to be my top choices.

I have not played System Shock. But I have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R SoC and I didn't get far as I couldn't get into it much. Maybe I'll give it a go when I upgrade my PC in the future.

Dang, I also see Mass Effect and Risen. 2 games I havn't played.

I'll throw in a vote for Borderlands.

Also, it's not first person, but Just Cause 2 is hilariously fun if you like to blow [censored] up. It's not linear at all, you can hop in a jet/ helicopter/ boat/ 747 and go anywhere you want. It's like all the crazy parts of GTA IV on steroids in one game.
