Skill dropped from 100 to 15

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 1:48 pm

its definitly a bug and should be fixed since you are forced to cheat to get your skill back if it already is at 100. otherwise you are screwed. the only ingame fix to this bug is to level that skill up. seeing that this can happen at 100 skill also makes me sure its not itended since there is no way to reset it without the use of the console.

if this happens to you on your console game youre pretty much screwed if you did saving already^^

should definitly be adressed by bethesda.

what interrests me is : is the skill number still in red after the use of the console command? gosh i am glad i am playing this game on the pc. without the console there are so many things that would break your savegame forever.

It wasn't red anymore for me after using the console. And yeah, unless bethesda fixes this, this bug is really gonna svck for people playing on anything other than PC. I told my buddy about it who plays on PS3, and now he's gotten all paranoid and checks his skills before every save

Had the same problem, guess some illness effect stuck and didn't get removed from praying.
It did resolve itself the next time I increased the skill in question.

I do suspect though that at least in my case it was only displayed wrong but the game was using the right value for calculation of damage, etc.

The damage calculation got messed up in my situation. My most commonly used weapon had been (and is again now) doing 72 damage, but when the skill was displaying as 15, it was only doing 50 damage

It's just a display bug, and doesn't affect your damage or results with that skill. I had the red drop-to-15 bug happen to Archery, and the green +10 health happen randomly, and neither actually had any effect, except their display in the skill screen.

Like I said, in my case, it did effect my damage points, it dropped over 20 points, and went back up to what it should have been after I changed it back in the console

fixing a bug via the console like this is not cheating guys, cheating would be adding something you never had in the first place.

Edit: if it is a bug.

Just in case you are worried, about it - using the console will not disable Steam Achievements.

Good to hear.
