Skyrim activate on Steam PC

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 2:03 am

Dont get me wrong - I love Steam. Its a great distribution platform for AAA and indie titles alike. Never before have indie titles had the opportunity to reach normal gamers, like they can on Steam.
I just think its silly with this release that they enforce such a strict unlock policy, since its distributed at the same time to consoles. And retailers are notorious at breaking release dates. Why deny customers their product?

I am getting confused now. I read a tweet from Pete Hines posted today it unlocks for everyone else midnight GMT 1 which would mean for me it would unlock at 6 PM instead of 11 PM. Steam still say 11 hours.

I'll be damned. He did, too. Fingers crossed that he told Steam. :)

In other words...The people that have supported TES since the beginning, American PC users, are going to be the absolutely last people able to play the game.

My game only unlocks on the 12 November instead of the 11th November. I hate this, it's not fair. We share the similar timezones with the aussies, why aren't we included?

GMT+8 timezone

I think it would be absurd if they even stopped to ask themselves "hey, who bought our first video games? We should give them an early launch", but then I don't have the mind of a teenager anymore.

Your response has nothing to do with what I'm discussing and your attempt at an insult was immature, almost teenager-like.

Youre saying they would stop using Steam because (you think) Bethesda made a wrong decision when it comes to the release schedule? Be more delusional please..

Remember in Desert Shield when US forces rolled into Iraq? What did Saddam do? He fired scud missles at Isreal.

Some people just can't connect the dots.

A simple thing that avoids this kind of 11th hour frustration

That was probably intentional. :P

I live in Singapore.

Basically, it is now 2:04 AM on the 11th of November 2011.

I already pre-loaded Skyrim into steam. But its still not unlocked? So I went to check the store page and it says that the game will be released on the 11th of November and I have 21 hours left until it unlocks.

Im just so confused. I tried looking up online if anyone else is having the same problem. But nada, none.

Tried relogging and restarting steam. But still I cant seem to get it to unlock.
Then I synced my computer time to the online time and now the store page says the game will get unlocked on the 12th of November. This is really bothering me. I waited all day to play this game and now it wont even let me play because it thinks I still have a day to wait.

Hello,

why PC User cant activate Skyrim today? Console players enjoy the Game already (XBOX) and PC User have to wait to tomoworrow! Thats not fair pls enable it today.

Vassa

You can unlock it if you use a VPN for a time zone in which the game is already unlocked.

Steam is totally [censored] worthless, the crackers have already beat official unlock time.
No they didn't. Skyrim is already unlocked on Steam in certain regions of the world, which is how there's a crack. Steam's encryption itself was not beaten and the official unlock time wasn't beaten, since the official time is already passed in certain areas of the world.

Unless time zones are abolished and the world moves to a daily clock a release date/timezone will always create winners and losers, get over it. :cookie:

Dude, the rest of the world already operates as if we had a single timezone, get with the times. :)

Pete's response was to someone from India that couldn't play yet. I'm thinking he meant 12:01 GMT for those east of GMT time and just stupidly said "rest of the world."

Unlocked for me for five hours now. :celebration: It's a nice change, because Aussies often get shafted for release dates. OP is complaining about being delayed by a couple of hours, but we often end up waiting days between the US launch and the Australian launch.
