Skyrim and Expansion/DLC

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:19 am

I just had to ask about the Coop MP, i see no reason to use Steam as the game is as of now... if Bethesda where to implement a 2 players Coop i would gladly pay another 20-30 bucks, i just feel the urge to share adventures with a friend and wander arround the BEAUTIFULL world of Skyrim, hunting or just looking for adventures, come on BETHESDA! i rather share an adventure with a Friend that with one of those mindless CPU controlled partners who will get in the way 85% of the time or keep falling in a trap over and over and over...

I also feelt a little dissapointed in the character creation options, i remember an interview with Todd Howard where he was saying how much improved the character creation options were, and when i played the game i feelt cheated... i mean i like the new Design of the faces in Skyrim over Oblivion 100 times more (specially the elves they look so damn good) but i preffer the options because of the free choice to create any kind of face in Oblivion, i think Bethesda should had created at least TWICE the faces, hairs, eyes and mouth choices, i had a hard time trying to create a face for my High Elf character... at least one i would had liked to had.

I know that if Bethesda Creates an Expansion we are probably going to see a new area, so what would you like to see in this matter?

Vote and comment Please.

Most likely no co-op, and probably no new huge character creation options, maybe new beards and hair if anything. Most likely we'll see a large new zone and a new plot quest and a series of smaller ones. If they do add anything about character creation it should be a barber and maybe even a Dwemer device or wizard that allows you to re-customize your face/body, but not race or six.

I dont want more than 2 players that would ruin the whole game, just the option to connect with one Steam Friend and having him/her be my patner instead of one of those annoying partners... i think it would be so damn awsome too to invite your best friend with his own char and bash some Orcs or Dragons together... so why not? who does not want to play with a friend and share adventures?

I used to like the idea of Co-Op but now I see that it would be a completly different game. The expanded character creation I see isn't necesarry however a barber or some unique in game power that changes ones appearence in game would be more plausible. I agree with Kloaked Khajiit on that one. A new zone/area/plot is the most likely addition to DLC content, it just happens it's a noticable pattern in these types of games especially from Bethesda. Truthfully none of the above would improve the game to me as it is fine the way it is. Time will tell.

I still have opinions I can discuss if this topic stays active.

I dont see why would it be a different Game, you rather have a CPU patner than an actual player Partner? what would be so different in gameplay for having a player partner instead of a CPU partner? it cant be that hard for bethesda to implement two players Coop, they can add a Special NPC character that connects to Steam and send a request to a Steam user in your friend list, connect him and have him be your partner. Oh and please go ahead and speak your mind if you have any good requests and ideas.

Ok if you would only like to see it go as far as taking over a "Special NPC" and helping the Host player with his world then I can accept that, but adding an open free roam world would mean that the game isn't solely revolved around you, but around every character in the game, servers would have to be made with all new quests/dungeons etc.

As I said in another thread, I would like to see a DLC where you can kick the Thalmor out of Tamriel and restore glory to the Empire.

I want to see a Spell Pack that restores a bunch of missing spell effects (waterwalking, various Daedra conjurations like Scamps of Daedroth, etc.) and spellmaking, and also a Weapon Pack, that adds things like spears and crossbows and throwing weapons (and maybe dual shields?).

It just seems that these special requests, wanting co-op,DLC,character appearance means you feel that the game needs improvement already. With that mindset you cannot fully enjoy it because you see it needs work done rather then accepting that it is done for the time being. I'm going to leave the improvements to the makers of the game(developers). Share what you would want improved but don't expect it to happen and if it doesn't accept the game for what it has.

Co-op would be tricky. The only way I could see it working is if you invite a friend to come to your version of Skyrim, or vice versa. If something like that was to be done, it would have to be completely separate from your main game otherwise all sorts of problems would come up.

Perhaps a DLC Arena where you could pit your skills against other real players would work without breaking the main game. You could still receive awards and skill increases, but nothing in the gameplay would affect the world of Skyrim itself.

I voted for the new land. I personally think that they may do Orsinium as an expansion. Seeing as it is a small mountain country and I don't -think- that its large enough for its own game. Well, that and I don't like the idea of any kind of multiplayer in an elder scrolls game.

More land and quests is all I ever require. Keep that multiplayer trash far far away (not that it would happen anyway).

the only way i could see co op working in any TES game is if they do it like they did with fable, where ur companion was basically a nobody that way it dosent take away from the story......................wait wait that means i would have to fight over drgon souls! nah screw that. I think about 99% of everyone on these forums reason why they do not want co op is not that they couldnt make it work to wherew it would be great, its the fact that they would do it on a game that was based on single playing and throw co op in and it would do awesome, so the next time around they would base the game on co op instead of single playing meaning that they would gimp the game for players who want to play single playing. For example designing events around 2 players instead of one making that event tooo difficult for single playing or ahhh its in my head but the alcholol wont let it come out. And it would be trash and we would start yearning for the good ol days of single playing skyrim bc u know they companies would screw it up for the future games.

Boils down to this, bethesda is so far one of the very few last standing gaming companies that stick with the "single player" genre hence why they are able to drenchthe game in details, whereas if its co op then they gotta revolve the game around co op, meaningless stuff because cmon u really gonna stand in line to read the books or hell even wait for a guy to read the books or notes? The choices in the game will be even more imited because of the game factoring in 2 players instead of 1 so making decisions effecting areas are gonna be cut down quite a bit, plus the random stuff gonna pretty much go by by or they just gonna pile it in corners for people.................u knwo what nvm forget it, it would look great now but would screw us over in the future, we know its coming but until then we will [censored] and flame because yes we have gona far with technology but we have yet to see an rpg where they would allow others in and have the impact we do as a single player done as wel as spread out between other people.

TES is one of the few great rpgs and its great because its a single player, leave it single player. u want co op, well then call those friends up, grab soem munchies and have them come over and baske in the awesomeness of skyrims beauty, that way they get to share the wonderful sights and it can stay single player, win/win =]

i would love co-op but since the chance of that happening is uber small i chose the new location and plot option.

character customization is meh i wish they would buy Carbon off CCP since that is by far the best character creator i have ever seen in a game...

Bethesda has already stated that they will never make TES multiplayer in any way, state, or form.

If they treat it anything like they did Fallout 3, there'll be a bunch of 'expansions' that add smaller areas with some mild quest chains (about as long as the guild questlines, I think, maybe a little longer)
