Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:27 pm

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. But i have one question guys : WHAT IS YOUR ARMOR RATING ?
And DO you know what is the max armor rating in skyrim ?
I heard that max armor rating is ~600 but my armor rating is 980+. Also, I saw a video about best skyrim armor and it was 2700+ (daedric) (he was on xbox360). HOW is this Possible ?

Thank you

The armour rating cap is 567, which means that no matter how much you go above this number, the damage reduction you get from armour will remain the same (80% IIRC). So the guy with 2700 armour will get the same damage reduction as someone with only 567 armour.

As for how you get the rating so high, well it's done through the alchemy-enchanting loop (look it up on google). Basically you end up with a +130% to smithing potion and 4 pieces of enchanted armour with +29% to smithing. With all of this in effect, you can then upgrade your armour's rating to ridiculous values on the workbench.

I have those potions and enchantments without looping.

The best use of this is of course, on your weapons

1107 is my rating with heavy armor. I went to light armor to regain some excitement.

There will be a damage cap eventually for weapons, why there wasnt one in the first place I will never understand. There is one for armor, but not for weapon damage, dumb.

It's his opinion that you've ruined your game... you seem to be fine with it. There's no "cheating" implied. Some players find it "ruined" if the game becomes too easy for them and he's saying that using that weapon would make the game too easy. Think of skyrim as more of a toy than a game. You're not out to beat anyone or anything. There are no victory conditions. Just play with it. As long as you're having fun... don't listen to what anyone else says about what you're "supposed to do".

Its just dumb, because they designed the game to stop armor protecting you after 560, but its fine to have weapons that do 100 thousand damage?! Just plan stupid.

So bandits will not longer single shoot me? Oblivion was the game with tragically low 28hp damage values and +1000hp enemies, Morrowind was more lethal, Fallout 3 let you headshot and kill most enemies, you need seriously improve weapons or use the 2*15 dagger damage to do that in Skyrim.

Armor and resistance is different as with no cap you will end up with 100% probably around armor rating 900 and will take no damage at all.

In my case I really got into smithing. I just wanted to see how high I could make my armor rating. After a while I switched to light armor ( I really like the armor you get from finding the ancient assasin dude) becasue it was getting too easy. Now I have to be careful again.

Just don't go crazy with the looping. I did the restoration loop and got fortify enchanting and smithing potions that turned me into a god. Health, magicka and stamina all way above 1000, armor rating through the roof, no cost spell casting, weapons that did nearly 8000 damage (and I didn't go as crazy as I could by far). I palyed around for an hour like that just killing everyone in Whiterun, but ended up reloading save pre-loop so the game didn't become boring as hell...

I was at a friend's house at the weekend who also has the game and he had a bow which done 300 damage and a mace that was about the same. Needless to say he was killing everything with ease. I said to him "do you find this fun?" He replied with "yeah its alright" I explained to him how I found his gaming style very boring.

Dam i need more Ingredients. I just could increase my ebony bow damage to 67+ 27 stamian damage without it's perk from Smith perk tree. Anyway i'ts even more easy to kill giants now with steel arrows.

They really should've capped weapon damage too, just like Destruction magic.

Honestly I feel the scaling on defenses and damage and enemies wasn't looked at all that closely. It seems to easily break down. Armor and magic defenses get too high, and become more and more rewarding the higher you get (before the cap, after which they don't reward at all). Offensive damage scales extremely inconsistently across damage types (magic vs. one-handed vs. bows vs. two-handed). Just seems like a mess to me.

Edit: Granted combat hasn't exactly been a strength in TES games in the past and Skyrim is certainly a step forward in this regard in a lot of ways. Just not this one.

Does it heal the target?
Make some armor with negative armor rating and see that happens, if you are lucky it increase damage.
