Skyrim Dlc As Good As Shivering Isles?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:39 pm

Will we see any dlc/ep's as good as the shivering isles for oblivion? I thought the shivering isles was the best dlc/ep ive played in any game and would love to see something like it or better for skyrim.

Shivering Isle was alright.

Was better then Oblivion, but that's not saying much.
IMO Oblivion should have been done exactly like SI. By which I mean the story telling and world structure. Not art direction.

Quality over Quantity? Allright! Wait, this is Bethesda we're talking about... Well, at least the modders won't have too many DLCs to fix.

Seriously, though... take a look at the DLCs for FO3 and New Vegas- these are likely to be the types of DLC that Skyrim will have.

Fo3 dlc was alright, nv was terrible imo, so hope they make dlc and an expansion pack which the SI was, not dlc. The fallouts didnt have any 'ep's'

Now that would be excellent!

But we don`t know what the DLC will be like until we see it.

I honestly loved most of the DLC released for every Bethesda game to date that I have played. Fallouts 3 and New Vegas, Morrowind and Oblivion. New Vegas DLC was better than most of the BGS DLC in terms of writing imo as well. Though that is because of Obsidian. Dead Money was great! Some people just get upset that they don't get their equipment. Pfft that was the fun part! Desperation and surviving. Operation Anchorage was a nice change of pace. Shivering Isles was one of my favorite expansions I have ever played. That is what a DLC is supposed to be. Not a effing weapon pack with 4 weapons for $5...

Yeah not many games have ep's any more, just cheap quickly made dlc's to make some more money.

Actually, that's what I do expect in a DLC. Now an expansion is more what I want to see...Tribunal, Bloodmoon, SI. Even the "DLC's" for FO and NV were more like half expansions than what I normally expect from a DLC.

Semantics semantics. Yeah, I know.

Ummm, you do realize that SI was the best part of Oblivion don't you? It was heads above the main quest.

As far as any dlc for Skyrim goes...I'm keeping my expectations low. So far the game has fallen a bit flat. Questionable design decisions have marred what could've been a much better TES game than what it's turned out to be so far.

Opinion. Though I do agree with it.

I agree with that too. So much potential...

Pehaps, but it does seem to be an opinion shared by many.

I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy Oblivion's MQ, just that IMO Shivering Isles MQ was better.

I definitely agree with that, the SI main quest (and pretty much everything else about SI too actually) kept me interested way longer than Oblivion's main quest. The MQ in Oblivion wasn't all that special, but SI totally made up for it in my opinion. Not that Oblivion's MQ was terrible, just not anything worth getting excited over.

well the last i heard officially they directly compared shivering isles to what they intend to do for dlc and said they would not be the same. At the time it was not clear on what that would mean, but over all the consensus was that there would not be new large areas to explore in dlc content.

I don't know...after playing Oblivion for so damn long, I couldn't get into Shivering Isles.

you sir, name and avatar, are epic.

I'm expecting something added on to advance past those gated off areas. They have very large open areas already in the game in the areas of Hammerfall, Morrowind and Cyrodil (spelling is awful, very tired) so I'm going to assume that any sort of EP or DLC will take place in those 3 areas. Which means we'll probably only get 3, 4 at the most, during the life span of Skyrim. I can see 3 during the year, then they shut down Skyrim while they finish up the game they are making right now. It's usually how they've been doing it.

Two years max and this game will no longer have new content or new patches. I'm being pessimistic, but the track record sort of shows it. I love the game though, and I agree that there was a ton of potential that I hope gets used, if not it would have been a waste to produce this, what seems to me at the moment, Oblivion 2.0. Just my opinion. I hope we get better patches that improve upon what has already been improved, and DLC that is worth the money I will be putting down on them. If they are crap, then I won't spend money on em. For Skyrim, I am expecting large content expansion.

New Vegas wasn't Bethesda, not really a good comparison point. Also Todd has said they plan to make DLC more expansion like, with much more meat to them than the DLC for Oblivion or FO3.

And what did he say that did not make it into the game? So far everything I have seen said in pre Skyrim video's have been included in the game. Sometimes I swear you people get Todd confused with Peter Molyneux
