Skyrim expansion back to Daggerfall.

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:53 am

I would like to see High Rock and Hammerfell in a future stand-alone game rather than tagged on as an after thought. As well as Valenwood/Elsweyr. Finally Blackmarsh then Summerset Isle last.

It seems true that High Rock seems quite a small landmass, but Hammerfell is mostly desert, so putting the two together would balance it up nicely, plus they would be given their own ammount of attention they deserved.

In a interview around E3 Todd Howard stated "I'd like to see the city of Daggerfall redone, or Sentinel." and went on with "Daggerfall should be on a giant bluff, overlooking the Iliac bay, and we just couldn't pull it off well then."

So do you think it's possible for Bethesda to add High rock as an expansion?

Do you think there would be any technical limitations by being able to just walk to another province?

What's your thoughts on this?

Yh would be good to see an expansion allowing us into a bit of High Rock. I'd love to see a Celtic (druid) inspired region.

Perhaps it'll be a quest related to the bitter rivalry between Skyrim and High Rock over the occupation of the Western Reach region of Skyrim. The Forsworn are the remnant of indigenous Bretons living from the Western Reach.

But expansions are usually the complete opposite of the vanilla game, like Bloodmoon or Shivering Isles.

Expansions are also usually very similar to the vanilla game, like Tribunal or to a lesser extent Knights of the Nine (not an expansion, I know, but feels like one).

At any rate Bethesda are not going to do expansions. They've said this a few times before the game was released.
No, they'll be releasing Point Lookout (Fallout 3) sized dlc. Which is around half to 3/4 the content of an expansion.
To add to this they also looked interested in doing house dlc again and not horse armor again, thankfully.

I would not like to see the city of Daggerfall of 110.000 population or any other of the previous chapter's I and II with only 50 npc's and 20 house's a castle and a graveyard with 5 tompstones! Come on Bethesda you can choose a better engine that can support bigger citys like first 2 chapters...

I would love to see Daggerfall, Sentinel and other places redone the way they were supposed to be done, but it would likely require another generation or two of serious technological development. I think the most likely and viable expansions for Skyrim would/should involve the Orcs and Orsinium (maybe even rebuild it, since I seem to recall it being sacked/destroyed earlier in the fourth era) and Solstheim/Morrowind.

Not if they reduce the awesome city of Daggerfall to something like Solitude, and the Daggerfall castle to something like the blue castle.
It would grate me too much.

There was a modding team thats started developing the rest of Morrowind after TES3, I think they are still at it now lol

Takes alot of time and effort for something this big

Landscaping in the TES3 CS took a lot of hard work and patience. And the Tamriel Rebuilt team hasn't exactly been very stable nor continuously productive. Also, some of the Tamriel Rebuilt contributors may have been a bit too perfectionistic, taking too much time.

Skyrim's CK will probably be much more efficient at recreating the world space, and besides that the landscape is basically already there. It will be a huge task yes, particularly to fill it with interior spaces and quests, but it's certainly possible.

I'd still like to see something related to the Psijic Order for DLC. It would be another great way to bring better magic into the game.

It would be awesome, but Daggerfall is on the other side of High Rock. Maybe Orsinium and the Wrothgarian Mountains though.
That doesn't mean anything. They could still do the city of Daggerfall or whatever like they did for Mournhold in Tribunal.

It would obviously be one the most largest expansions that Bethesda would make, but they said that Skyrim would be their last game on this current generation of consoles. Which means that they could devote more time on expansions/DLC, because they may want to know the specs of next generation before jumping on a new game.

an entire province would be a bit ambitious for an expansion pack, let alone DLC. But if they do it, and price it fairly ($40-50) and fully recreate the province... that would be sweet.

No.
Nonononononononono.......!

And it is not because they could not do it right, but they -would- not do it right.

Well, the scale is different in each game and High rock is roughly half the size of Skyrim according to this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:TamrielMap.jpg.

I completely agree, any province would add so much to the game.

I want to see Elsweyr or Hammerfell. We haven't seen any deserts or enormous cities (except Vivec) in the Elder Scrolls.
